YomoMedia – on demand feed, blog, & podcast retriever for Windows Mobile

YomoMedia

YomoMedia

YomoMedia is an application that allows you to get your favorite news feeds, blogs, podcasts, audio and video on demand. It syncs with a web application that allows you to discover new content, manage the content on your mobile device or create custom content.

Initially, I felt as though the mobile application was a little clunky. At first boot, I noticed that it listed many preloaded feeds, not all of them interested me. I instantly deleted a few of the default bundles because the application wouldn’t allow me to personalize them. Then, I discovered how useful YomoMedia really is…

YomoMedia Interface

What sets this RSS feed reader and podcast manager apart from the others is the ability to use the web to easily update your feed list. You can also add/edit content straight from the mobile app once you have setup an account via the web and created a bundle. If you use the web app, you’re able to search for your favorite feeds via keywords. Once I rid my free YomoMedia account of the random, preloaded feeds, I was able to customize it to my liking. I quickly created my own bundles with multiple feeds and even added my favorite podcasts with ease. Before I knew it, I was ready to set up the automated update system, which is fantastic.

With YomoMedia, you’re able to manually or automatically update your feeds/podcasts. You can update them all at once or one-by-one and the options menu allows you to do so in great detail.

Now, I can launch YomoMedia before I go to sleep, so my podcasts will already be downloaded and waiting for me in the morning – thanks to scheduled interval updates.

Another innovative feature of the mobile app is the embedded content browser. With other RSS readers, part of the story is revealed and then you have to click a link that slowly launches your default web browser in order to read the rest of the story. YomoMedia has one built in so you can expand on the story of interest right in the application. I have to admit, it’s much more convenient that way.

With all the features of YomoMedia, the developers clearly put in a lot of work to make this one of the best rss readers for Windows Mobile. I will definitely continue using it.

We do have a partnership with the product. But we do believe this is the best RSS reader for the given price on Windows Mobile. Which is why it has been selected as the App of the month.

It tends to ruin the credibility of the site when you recommend your sponsors product without divulging they're your sponsor.

I see that you have a point. I will add a note on the post stating we have a partnership with the developer.

It doesn't work on my HTC touch Pro. I emailed the support team, but never heard back from them. It starts, but disappears and take the task bar with it. I have to soft reset to get it back.
