[ WM7 Rumor ] No Multitaking for WM7 ??

” WinMo 7 has no background processing and will use an Apple-like notification service. There is no system resource access and no threaded processes. In fact, there is no customization at all. “

Usually I wont buy news like this, but when it comes from mobilecrunch.com, it makes me uneasy. Then we see some thing like WinMo 7 is essentially a copy of the Zune HD’s kernel. It comes in one screen size and will work best on OLED devices. Microsoft will give official specs to hardware makers and force them to comply or else refuse them access to the OS. This includes a regimented screen and RAM size as well as a minimum processor speed.

One Screen size !! Hey wait a min. If LG Apollo has a WXGA Screen and if HD2 gets a ROM update to WM7 ( WVGA ) there goes MobileCrunch’s credibility out the window. So for now I an calling the No Multitaking for WM7 rumor an Anti Windows Mobile rumor..

Nobody said the HD2 will get WM7, stop spreading false rumors.

There is absolutely no evidence of this and it makes no sense to a sane mind. HTC have absolutely no reason to magically roll out WM7 to a phone which by then will be at least one year old.

As someone that has an insider's info on the OS, it is being planned on multiple screens w/ multiple resolutions. The mis-information campaign from MS competitors continues. Just goes to show you that someone like me with leaked info about the superb OS told the wrong person and, upset w/ the news, is smearing the OS on the web.

.Net multi-threading plays an important role in the OS as well as memory utilization. I don't know for sure that it will not multi-task but given the tech going into the OS it seems highly doubtful.

Have you been living under a rock for the past 6 months? Of course the HD2 will get a WM7 update. It may not be free but it is one of the first true WM7 compatible phones.

Even if HTC decide not to release WM7 for the HD2 there wll no doubt be roms available through un-official channels.

If you Apple fanboys have nothing better to say don't say anything. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

It is highly doubtful that much of this no multi-tasking, and Zune HD kernal is true. For one, though the Zune HD kernal is impressive for a mp3 player, it is not for a fully functional mobile device. Second, if MS plans to wow handset makers, the way they are going to do is not by limiting the functionality users will have. Instead MS needs to create something with more functionality that runs a lot smoother than anything we have seen before. I highly doubt that the developers from HTC are dumb enough to make glorified Zune's. The number one reason Zune HD owners are ticked off, and the why the Zune HD doesn't sell, is because of no customization and no way to develope.

It was probably an Apple fan boy who started the rumour!

Than why are you here reading up on it? The very fact that you are here on a website dedicated to Windows Mobile and Other Smartphones, (that's right iPhone isn't a smartphone, it's gimmick dedicated to those who kiss Steve Jobs' you know what) shows us that you fear Microsoft.

p.s. any body with brains knows not to buy the first release of anything Apple, especially things like the Mac Book Air or the iSlate. Not my words, those are the words of my Brother in-law, die hard macboy

funny, that was said the same about Snow Leopard. “It's going to be the most stable OS.” “It is going to be amazing.” sound familiar? Well in test SL bit the dust in Stability, and failed misserably when compared to Windows 7 graphics rendering capabilities.

To give you credit, it did well in the normal tasks that don't require many resources. Hey, SL makes a good graphing calculator. Good Job JOB's

This forum seriously needs a post rating system so you can demote troll posts into oblivion, just like on engadget.

What little I have figured out I have already said as much… But most of that has been from the beta images that have been floating around the internet for the last year or so. I am sure they've made changes but some of the rumors are outrageous to say the least.

iSlate haha another idea copied from Microsoft (MS launched the tablet PC initiative around 2002-03). Microsoft already ahead of the game:

Also, from what I hear through some Apple developers, the new iPhone isn't going to be that much different from that ancient device you currently call a phone. Kind of like what happened from 3G to 3GS, small little improvements like a 5mp camera maybe a slightly faster cpu (800mhz). Doesn't sound like current iPhone users will be rushing to upgrade.

Like I always say, only thing keeping iPhone alive is its appstore.

Multitasking the only thing Steve, are you serious? Do you even know what specs the new WM phones pack these days?

Currently twice the speed of your stoneage device, 4 times the memory, 50% larger screen, GPS, twice the resolution with camera's incl. Flash, video calling with front camera….the list just goes on.

Funny story:
My brother and I were watching movies last night and we left our phones on top of each other on the table (mine on top). After the movie we looked all over the room and couldn't find his iPhone. After a short while we realised it was completely 0wned by my HD2 :) iPhone is so small and insignificant…
