Windows Phone Space Usage using Storage Check [ VIDEO ]
Windows Phone comes with a tool called Phone Storage which gives a basic idea of how much space is used up by app and other media on the device, but if you happen to have a Nokia Lumia device then you will have a new app called Storage Check ( on Firmware 1232.5957.1308.003 which was pushed out as an OTA update to Lumia 920, not sure if the other Lumia devices got this.. I hope you guys can let us know via the comments ).
Windows Phone Space Usage
With Storage Check for Nokia Lumia Windows Phone, you can see at a glance how much space is taken up with data, including exactly what type of data that may be. When you launch it the app takes a few seconds to calculate all the data it needs then it displays a pie chart of sorts which will tell you how much space apps, media and system files use up and you also get to see how much free space you have on the device. On the lumia 920 there is no storage card so I am not sure if it will take that in to account on Windows Phone devices with a storage card.
Slide across and you get a detailed view page, now you get a bit more detailed view in to how the files use up space on your device. Here you can see storge space used up by app, email, office files, pictures, music + video, etc . You even get the option to clear out Temporary Files on your Windows Phone. The apps section has a details button which will give you a breakdown of storage space usage by each individual apps. There is no option to delete the apps from there which would have been nice ( but I guess that might be a OS limitation ). The standard storage check file on Windows Phone does NOT offer this information. It would appear Nokia plans to roll this out to all Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices ( sorry 7.x users, don’t shoot the messenger ) so give it a shot and let us know what you think about it.
