Windows Phone operating system may capture more than 20 percent of the smartphone market over the next two to three years says Microsoft Corp. with the help of hardware manufacturers and increased marketing efforts. The reports have been foretasted by researchers Gartner and IDC, which expects a market share of about 20 percent in 2015. These views however have been said conservative by Achim Berg, head of Windows Phone marketing. Microsoft is the world’s largest software maker and is betting that Windows Phone will retake market share lost to Apple (AAPL) on it iOs platform and Google (GOOG) to its Android operating system. Microsoft has already released its new Windows Phone Mango update in Japan with hardware manufacturers Fujitsu-Toshiba launching the IS12T. The company however plans to start offering the enhanced “Mango” version of its operating system with enhanced functions like better social- media offerings, live tiles, search integration for the first time in Europe on two HTC Corp. phones, set to go on sale by Oct. 1.
The upcoming HTC Titan and Radar phones will have a full fledged advertising campaign and the company has joined Microsoft in training hundreds of salesmen worldwide for a better demonstration of the product, said Berg at the IFA consumer electronics fair. The HTC Titan, which has an 8-megapixel camera with dual-led flash and a wide-angle lens, will sell for 599 euros ($855), while the Radar/Omega costs 399 euros.

If they market mango in Canada the way the current version is marketed then it has no chance. Here in Canada a Windows phone has not shown up in these weekly flyers for at least 5 months. I’ve seen touchpads, blackberry, android, symbion and even dumb phones but not a single windows phone.
I agree with RWalrond, it’s also almost non-present in carrier stores.. No demo units, no posters, nothing.. And salesmen never say anything, and when you ask them about it they try to convince to get an Android phone.. Which in my opinion is a messy OS.
