When it comes to Windows Phone 7 we have to look at what the people who got a developers device are saying ( at least till the Microsoft employees start to put WP7 on ebay ;) ). Today we ( via windowsphonesecrets.com ) have some information to share with you guys about Calendars on Windows Phone 7.
Lets get the basic things out of the way WP7 Calendars has got the ability to sync with multiple calendar accounts ( Exchange calendar, Google Calendar , Windows Live calendar ), you can color code each of these in any one of the available color. You can add appointments on the phone and that will get synced up to the calendar in the cloud. Tasks and subscribed calendars from a main calendar account are NOT supported ( at least not in the initial version ). Multiple calendars from a source will come through to WP7 but there is no way to say you want to only sync certain calendar and disable the other ( from a single source )
Now on to the detailed look at the stuff that is not present. Tasks it is pretty much straightforward, but what does multiple calendars and subscribed calendars from a main calendar account mean.
To understand multiple calendars and subscribed calendars have a look at the image post on top. The one on the left is Google and the one on the right is from Windows Live.
Subscribed Calendars :
Have a look at the Google calendar , on your Windows Phone 7 you will only see appointments from Paul which is the main calendar and all the subscribed calendars ( like French Holidays, US Holidays, etc will NOT be present )
Multiple Calendars :
Now consider the Windows Live calendar from the image ( the one on the right ). Paul and Thurrott Family calendars will come through to the phone but there is no way you can say you just want appointments from Thurrott Family. Similarly when you add an appointment on your WP7 device you WONT be able to specify if it goes in to a sub calendar – eg Paul or Thurrott Family in this case.
What do you guys think about this ? Microsoft is not releasing a full feature rich OS in the initial version, they are packing it with some nice features but not everything , so in future updates when they can implement these feature in a nice way for a hand-held device they will push out the updates that will add these features. I am sure there will be support for and against this move. Frankly I don’t mind this. so my question to you folks
?Do you like Microsoft’s new take on WP7 where they plan to release incremental updates to add more features ( which I think will be more frequent when compared to WM6.X and below ), much like the iPhone.

This one looks good! White background is always better than black.
Absolutely rediculous. This is no way to compete with the iPhone, which has been managing all 8 of my windows live calendars for years. It’s just one more thing MS needs to get on.
Tasks at Last is a great Exchange Task client that adds this critical missing feature for any Exchange user and does it in an intuitive way: full task search, long task body support, extensive customizable view sort and filter (by category, due date, etc.) and much more. I’m an enthusiastic GTD’er and we cooked up this app to also be GTD friendly.
Check out the trial in the marketplace or read more on our website: http://www.tasksatlast.com.
We’re working to make this the best Windows Phone 7 Exchange Task client available so suggestions, feedback and reviews are welcome.
