Jason Perlow from zdnet posted an article on Smartphone Wars and his experience with getting a new Droid. Like most other bloggers his Smartphone Evolution does not feature the Windows Mobile Platform .. but unlike others he explains why
Quote
” And Microsoft? For all practical purposes, Windows Mobile is a dead platform, which is why I didn’t even bother to include it in my evolutionary chart accompanying this article. Compared to Apple and Google’s offerings, there isn’t a Windows Mobile phone on the market that can compete in terms of technology and capability with either iPhone or DROID.
Windows Mobile is currently the smartphone equivalent of Vista, nobody wants to touch it. While reports of Windows Mobile 7’s development at Microsoft are promising, the company is probably a year away from device manufacturers and carriers releasing products which use it — the very same manufacturers and carriers which will be enjoying success with Android well into version 2.x/3.x territory by that time. ”
can you really complain ?

Why is the Droid on everyone's minds these days?
Really, I'm at a loss… it's just another Android device – okay this one has a high-resolution screen and a full keyboard without getting too chunky – what else is there? It doesn't even have motoblur.
Oh, I know, the blitz marketing campaign is what the Droid has on its side. The only device that has managed to create a storm other than the iPhone in the last few years is the only device that tackles Apple and their iPhone head on in their equally-present marketing campaign. Good job.
I have experience with all these platforms and most on this list is just eye candy and entertainment, no customization or productivity. To me maybe it is him or whoever just trying to kill windows mobile before the windows mobile 7 comes out. Come on windows mobil has so many users, programs, tweaks, and is much more recognized as a pc hence the name pocketpc forreal. I have the Omnia i910 which is really like a computer. Maybe they added too much which would have freed up the performace but it is as it is named a “PocketPc”. The rest of these are just eye candy made for apps and pretty graphics thats it. Windows mobile can deliver in that area and much more than these can offer. The only platform i can really see as competition is Blackberry and maybe Android. Its funny because i have used a iPhone and Android and they both just is a couple of nice graphics, buttons, and empty apps that no one would really use. Also that the Windows Phone is so customizable brings it above other by way it can feature all those platforms on any pocket pc. Can take any program, dll, tweak, open gl, and new graphic including tweaking or rendering its own platform to a persons liking. My opinion ” iPhone and Android or like cookietech cutouts based off the same functionality and basic use”.
Windows Mobile is the best. Can't beat the customisations and the capabilities. Not even android or iphone come close.
Awww… “Jason Perlow from Zdnet” I’ve heard of this guy, hes the dude that Microsoft Rejected because he was a man hater just like Dr. Phill. Not even XDA Developers wanted him as a member. Ive had a Nokia (Symbian) Storm (Black Berry) Iphone, and Hero (Android). Compared to my Htc Leo and Warhawk, there way behind technology you would be an idiot trying to take on Windows Capabilities. Every phone will always have issues, not every phone is perfect. Yes the Iphone and Google have about 100,000 apps for their phones, but who the hell needs 100,000 different types of calculators??? Idiots! And let’s remember that windows can always be tweak in a million different ways; try that with your dumb jailbrake software, Jason…
WINDOWS WILL ALWAYS RULE THE WORLD!!!
