In a companion post on the Windows Phone Blog, we have unveiled the highly anticipated Windows Phone 7 Series. For the first time ever, we are bringing together Xbox LIVE games and the Zune music and video experience to phones. Developers are already speculating about the app platform and tools. All I can tell you is that we are going big at MIX10, March 15-17.
I will proudly say that we are about to launch a very compelling mobile development platform – arguably the best in our history. Even if you can’t join us at MIX this year be sure to follow Charlie Kindel, @ckindel for regular updates on the developer story for Windows Phone.
Today at Mobile World Congress we are not simply announcing the existence of Windows Phone 7 Series – we are proud to show you our design results after more than a year of talking to real people, testing out various designs and thinking deeply about how to bring together the web, your data, and applications. For the first time ever, we are bringing together Xbox LIVE games and the Zune music and video experience to phones. We won’t make you wait any longer. Go ahead and check out this video of our new Windows Phone running on real hardware.

Just about a year ago we took a hard look at the state of the smartphone industry – particularly at design. Our view is that the predominant user interface design – screens of icons to manage and navigate – has become a little outdated. Looks like the successful developers from the iPhone will be making an appearance on Windows Phone Marketplace. It looks like Windows Phone Marketplace will be having the same Zunish interface.
When the guys who think WM6.5 was a Half-Assed UI call Windows Phone 7 as the most groundbreaking phone since the iPhone, you know that Microsoft has come out with all guns blazing for Windows Phone 7.
