SUIA short while ago, I wrote an article on the wonders of the SlideUI Mobile Controls from devslide which can be found here.

They say these changes are made “based on customer feedback".
I know that at least 2 of these changes have been made from stuff I have said personally.

I asked them if there was any way to add a background image to the PaintBox control, the one you can draw on & they said they would add it to the next build.
I thought that may just be something to keep me quiet, but lo and behold, its now in there.

I am a huge fan of the look of Microsoft’s new mobile OS – Windows Phone 7. The simple layout, the typography, the colour scheme, I loved it all. I decided that I wanted to make an app for Windows Mobile that looked like Windows Phone 7, just to see if I could.

Ive also recently been testing out devslide’s SlideUI Mobile Controls, a set of advanced & sexy looking controls for developers to use in their apps. My favourite control, as I said in my review of the SlideUI Controls, is the PaintBox control which lets you draw strait onto it. Putting my love for Windows Phone 7 & the Paintbox control together, resulted in Saint! (more…)

Over the years on the xda Developers forums Ive seen many cases of people having problems where their screen goes off (which puts the phone to sleep temporarily) and it disconnects their data connection or pauses their music or stops something else which they want continuing. People seem to always ask if there is a way to turn off the screen to save power without stopping the tasks your phone is performing. Finally, thanks to virgilp, ‘theres an app for that’!

Those who have ever used a Windows Mobile device know that many of the apps available for the OS are, how should I put this… “less than attractive”, so the people over at devslide have created their own bunch of UI elements to help us spruce up our apps.

SlideUI Mobile Controls are a bunch of buttons, text boxes & other similar controls which people are used to seeing on their Windows Phone device daily, but the huge difference is they look so much more attractive. Here is a bit about my experience using SlideUI Mobile Controls in my apps.

As you may know, newly updated & customized ROMs come out of xda-developers like a factory of Windows Mobile goodness, but to many people the process of “cooking” a ROM is a complete mystery. I personally still think its 75% magic. Luckily, theres a step by step guide in the works which should explain it simply enough that even I can understand it. Its even got pictures!

AM TasksPlus is a Pocket PC today screen plug-in that replaces the simple tasks plug-in provided by Microsoft. AM TasksPlus shows compact tasks statistics or a detailed list of incomplete tasks grouped by hierarchy ( Due today, Overdue and Future tasks), category, importance, sensitivity, progress or ungrouped(plain list) . Using user defined configuration profiles, various views can be quickly applied to change the Today screen. Tasks are filtered by importance , categories, and sensitivity. Groups are expandable to list the grouped tasks. Standard operations as copy view, beam, send to bluetooth, delete task, or make task complete are accessible from Today Screen pop-up menu.

Microsoft is planning to invest $1 billion in research and development for Windows Mobile according to forbes.com via WMPU. Microsoft’s Bill Koefoed has told Pacific Crest analyst Brendan Barnacle that Microsoft is planning to invest $1 billion in research and development for Windows Mobile.

So now we are left to wonder what they will be bring working on. I would like to think some of that money will go in to 1st party xBox Live Game titles.. Halo Mobile ..the ultimate in FPS on a mobile device anyone ?
