Here is a new app store for windows phone. We have seem many different apps store for windows mobile other the <del datetime="2010-06-07T09:57:02+00:00">years </del> past months. Is AmmApp any different ? Frankly I am not sure I haven’t given this a shot yet. It looks like a Russian app store but they have an English section for the site. There is no web catalog of the apps ( at least not yet ). From the screenshots it looks like the app is in English. I am not sure of what payment gateway they use for buying apps. If any of you folks have tried this appstore before do let us know about your impressions on using the app. The usual features like sorting by category, searching by name, rating for apps in catalog , etc seems to be present.

msmobiles led me to an interesting article from GeekZone.co.nz. They attended Microsoft Tech.Ed New Zealand 2009 session “Distributing and Monetizing Applications through Windows Marketplace Mobile” and has uncovered some interesting facts about our much anticipated appstore.

Good things :

Revenue sharing is always 70/30 for developers. Even if an operator enters the mix, Microsoft will pay the operator share from their 30%.

The marketplace client software will show available updates and users can choose to install them when they want.

Developers are able to specify hardware requirements that will be checked before the software is purchased. ( so apps that require accelerometer will not be available for download on devices with out the hardware )

Even if an application is rejected from the marketplace it is still possible for developers to sell it through other channels.

Refunding will be available up to 24 hours from when the application is purchased and users will have the right to return the purchase with no questions asked

Bad things :

If an application is approved but later removed from the marketplace it will then be automatically removed from all mobile devices. Its not bad when the app in question is a malware but when legit apps are pulled from the app store , I don’t want MS to delete the app from my phone.

Mapping/routing applications will be rejected. ( I am guessing No Google maps or apps related to using google maps in the app store thats stupid…)

While you see bucket loads of ads about iphone from apple these days, Microsoft was looking rather uninterested in promoting its mobile division ie. Windows Mobile. But all that might be about to change. I was on twitter today and came across a tweet from habasch and he was pointing out that he could now see ” Windows Mobile MarketPlace Ads ” in his iPhone apps. He also managed to grab a screenshot of the same. Its great to see Microsoft finally showing some interest in Windows Mobile. With more ads and competitions like ” Race to Market Challenge ” Microsoft will be giving all the other major Mobile OS a run for their money.

Thanks to PocketNow we now have a glimpse of what the Web Interface of Windows Mobile App store will look like. The pics are not high quality but gives us a general idea of what to expect. According to them you can add apps from the website to your download queue on your device. We are not sure if can download the apps from the website to your PC and then sync it. The Wen Interface will have multiple section like Showcased Apps , Whats News, and something else I cant quite make out.. Can you guys figure out what the other one is ?.
