TouchFlo Detacher 1.0.0.1 Beta – switch between TouchFlo 3D and normal Today Screen

TouchFlo Deatacher ( image via wmpoweruser.com )

TouchFlo Deatacher ( image via wmpoweruser.com )

TouchFlo Detacher is yet another way to simultaneously have TouchFlo 3D and the regular Today screen.

Current features
- Free up your Today screen by hosting Manila outside of the Today screen! TouchFlo Detacher can launch/show/hide/close Manila independent of any other Today screen settings. Now you can have your TouchFlo cake and eat it too! The most obvious use is to assign a soft key to toggle between seeing TouchFlo and seeing the regular Today screen.
- Service runs as a background application (in your StartUp folder) for maximum speed when toggling Manila modes.
- NO ANNOYING SPLASH SCREEN when application launches.
- Service is 100% idle when not receiving messages or controlling TouchFlo, so no CPU is wasted! (Just a tiny bit of RAM)
- Configuration application allows modifying manila.exe location, manila window class/title, and more, so that this utility can (presumably) be used with other manila versions (such as TouchFlo 2D). This is untested. Out of the box, it supports TouchFlo 3D in its default configuration as seen on the Diamond/Pro/HD.
- Configuration application can clean out the ManilaActivateToday.exe from the notification queue. (That app can interefere with TouchFlo Detacher’s operation.)
- Shortcuts to start/show Manila, hide Manila, and close Manila. These can be assigned to hardware buttons (if your device has them) or virtual hardware buttons through the use of 3rd party applications such as AE Button Plus.
- Configuration application can customize the softkeys in both Today and TouchFlo’s Home tab. You can use it to not only assign TouchFlo Detacher operations (show/hide/close), but any other application on your device.
- Out-of-the-box TouchFlo 2D / Manila2D support. (MAYBE – this needs to be tested by somebody with TF2D. Go to the config app, then menu, then TF2D defaults.)

Diamond TF3D Config 0.3.1

Diamond TF3D Config

Sushilange from xda-dev has created a TF3D Configuration program, which now lets you change the order of the tabs in the TouchFLO 3D user interface. That way you can put your 5 most-used tabs right up front on the left side so that they’re easier to access without having to slide ans select them. You can assign a different panel to that Home key by placing it all the way to the left. For example, if you want to jump to your People panel by pressing the Home key, just place it in the left-most space.
If you find this tool useful, please donate to the developer.

HTC revamps TouchFLO 3D for improving performance

By now every would have heard about the slow nature of the TouchFLO 3D interface . It wasn’t as responsive as it was expected to be. HTC confirmed today that the European HTC Touch Diamond, which went on sale officially just recently, is running a much improved TouchFLO 3D version which is speedier, snappier and more responsive.

The Touch Diamond’s Boot Up Video

Touch Diamond plays a full-screen video tutorial for you the first time you boot the device up. The video tutorial teaches you how to use the new TouchFLO 3D interface.

There’s no audio in the video, but it apparently looks great on the Touch Diamond’s 640×480 pixel screen as per the info from pocketnow.com

TouchFLO 2 .. Manila may be ??

HTC’s TouchFLO UI was great because it was one of the first “skin Windows Mobile to make it usable” applications—even if it isn’t quite as good as PointUI. This supposed TouchFlo 2.0 upgrade looks much improved, even if it is still early in the development stage. If you’re feeling brave you can actually try and install it on your own phone and give it a shot. We hope this new version covers up more of the Windows Mobile UI than the original, which was basically just a shortcut launcher system to get you into the ugly, bloody guts of the phone.

The interface looks like a part of the Manila UI that was posted a few days go. Check it out here : Manila Interface
