XTHack is a simple app that lets you apply many different HTC HD2 customization and mods with a simple select and apply interface. If you dont like to get yours hands dirty by jumping in to the registry then you might want to give this app a go.
From April 1st through May 19th, you can score a credit of $100 to as much as $350 toward the HTC HD2 by trading in a working iPhone. The offer is not being made by corporate owned T-Mobile stores. The credit is available through participating authorized T-Mobile dealers, by ordering the HD2 on the phone at 1-800-TMOBILE or through a Business Direct Sales Rep. Those purchasing the HD2 through the latter two channels must handle the redemption themselves at www.recyclerebates.com/htc. To qualify for the credit, the iPhone being turned in must be in working condition and functional. The touchscreen cannot be broken or damaged and the phone cannot suffer from corrosion or liquid damage. via tmonews.com
An updated ROM is now available for Telstra customers using the HTC HD2. According to HTC Keeping in touch has always been very important, and this upgrade delivers fast and reliable SMS messaging. Just hit up the link at the end for detailed instruction on how to upgrade and you can file the download file from there.
If anyone is going to get the HD2, you might want to get it via T-Mobile.com because you can get 35% cashback! To do this you have to do two simple steps.
First, go to bing.com/cashback and set up a free Bing Cashback account. Second, go to the bing.com homepage and search for “T-mobile” without the quotes. At the top of the page there should be a “Sponsored Sites” for T-Mobile official site. It should have the Bing Dollar sign logo. Click that link. You will have an overlay come up, enter in the email address you used to sign up for Bing Cashback, and click submit.
Once you do this, get the phone you want from T-mobile.com. You have to purchase the phone during this session.. you can’t save the phone to the cart and come back to it. If you have to come back, you will have to do the same bing.com search, and click the ad to go back to T-mobile.com.
There is no guarantee this would work , if you decide to give it a go, let us know how it goes. BTW the cash back will take around 60 days. Say thanks to steveymacjr from the TMobile Forum and fuzemobility.com for the find
Zooomer enables “pinch to zoom” in the programs you want. The software scans all .exe on the device. Just select the app you want to bee zoom enabled and perform a softreset – here you go: the exe is enabled for pinch to zoom! Currently only user installed (and some few built in) applications can be “zooom-enabled”.
According to pocket-lint.com via WMPU Oded Ran, head of consumer marketing, Windows Phone UK made the following statement
“We’ve received many questions about the upgradability of HTC HD2 and we currently do not have plans to update the HTC HD2 to Windows Phone 7 Series”, Ran told us, hoping to draw a line in the sand over the will they or won’t they question, before going on to say.
“For Windows Phone 7 Series we are enforcing a strict set of hardware requirements to ensure a consistently great experience for end-users and developers…we cannot confirm that Windows Mobile 6.5 phones that satisfy those requirements will be upgradeable”.
So It looks like no Windows Mobile 6.5 device will be upgradable to Windows Phone 7. So is it a good thing ? will such strict hardware specification reduce the fragmentation issue and provide a better opportunity for developers and a better experience for consumers ?
The guys from tmonews.com managed to get their hand on the pricing document for various new T-Mobile devices and this includes the HTC HD2. The Tmobile HD2 is a highly anticipated device and has some excellent built in apps like a new version of Swype Keyboard , Amazon App, Blockbuster App, etc.. but since this device comes with 5 hardware buttons , it is unlikely to get upgraded to Windows Phone 7.
T-Mobile HD2 will be priced at $199.99 after rebate. No contract? No problem. That’ll be $449.99. NO REBATE REQUIRED WITH DATA PLAN!. So will you be queueing up in front of a T-Mobile Store on the 24th of March ?
The guys from APC via WMPU got the chance to speak with Natasha Kwan, General Manager for Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business in the Asia-Pacific region and despite the HD2 meeting many of the criteria laid down in Microsoft’s ‘Chassis 1’ spec – including a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, high-res capacitive touch display, 5 megapixel camera and 3.5mm headphone jack – the phone will be ruled out for the simple reason that it has five buttons instead of the three mandated for all Windows Phone 7 devices.
You got to be kidding me.. I can understand if there were a hardware limitation , I do get it 5 buttons instead of three is a hardware change but can that seriously be considered as a huge difference ?
UPDATE : There is also the possibility of a graphics chip that is missing in the HD2, which sounds like a fair reason to deny the upgrade.
Well I don’t know about the rest of you but I will NOT be upgrading to any WM6.5 devices .. What about you ?
