Microsoft never says NO ( well there is no Porn, they have said no to that ) but for everything else they have gone with ” it wont be present during launch ” which mean when WP7 hits shelves later this year the feature in question will not be present BUT in some future version down the line WP7 might bring that feature. We have seen a lot of its wont be present during launch Multi-tasking, Realtime Multiplayer Games, Copy Paste, Flash, etc and now we can add 3rd party keyboard to the list according to the following tweet. So no Swype on WP7 :( . The keyboard on WP7 is quite nice there is no denying that but Swype would have been quite nice.
Check out the review for Swype a new text input method for selected windows phone. The app comes bundled with Samsung Omnia 2. See the full review over at BestWindowsMobileApps by our new Reviewer pfuy
Most of you guys would know Swype ( get it here ), if you were wondering whether Swype is really faster than other mode of texting ? the folks from samsung have set a new Guinness Record for the Fastest Text Message on a Touchscreen Mobile Phone by using Swype on a Samsung II. The record was set by Franklin Page a Swype employee. He managed to set the record in 35.54 seconds.
Texting speed records were previously a combined title for T9, physical QWERTY, or touchscreen. That wasn’t exactly fair, so Guinness has begun to separate things out into proper categories. Page’s was the first record attempt for this category; in theory, he could have taken 20 minutes to type the message and still claimed the record.
Anyhoo I dont this this record will last too long. May be they should send this guy to do a vs with the swype employee .
T-Mobile HTC HD2will have the Swype software keyboard and now the hackers on ppc-geeks have extracted the cab for the other windows mobile users. The HD2 version is more finger-friendly with larger keys and the layout has been changed a bit. The app also has multi-language support. Sice this app is optimized for the HD2 it might not work well on non VGA devices.
One week after the buzz that Samsung created around the new keyboard for smartphones, Swype, that pretends to « beat » the iPhone keyboard and when Swype, Inc. just raised m$ 5.6, a French start-up, demonstrates with a video that its innovating 6 key keyboard for touch screen smartphones is more efficient than Swype.
leo001 from MoDaCo has managed to extract Swype Input Keyboard from the Omnia 2 ( props to Pocketnow for the find ). Once you get used to this , you will love to use this keyboard. Its much more fun and faster to input text on your device.
From their finding it looks like the app works on GSM Omnia II, HTC Pure, Touch Pro2, etc.
