Spotify is now available for Windows Mobile devices like the HD2 in the form of an official client, previously there were 3rd party apps like mySpot that could get the job done. Spotify is a music streaming service with desktop app and is free to download in some European counties like Sweden, Spain, Norway, Finland, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. For a monthly fee, users can upgrade to a “Premium” account, which offers higher bitrate streams, offline access to music and use of Spotify on mobile devices. Plz note that not all Windows Mobile 6.x devices are supported. They also plan to release a Spotify client for Windows Phone 7

The features on Windows Mobile 6.x include

listen to tracks from Spotify’s huge catalogue

stream over WiFi or 2.5/3G

access playlists

run Spotify in the background

play in offline mode

Listen to tracks and albums in their entirety. Rewind, fast-forward, pause, skip and shuffle

Wirelessly sync your local files to your phone

On-the-fly sync – every track you add to a playlist appears instantly on mobile and computer

Starred tracks – tag all your favourites into a special list

mySpot is a pocket pc software that provides access to the Spotify service on the Windows Mobile platform. It should works with any QVGA, VGA or WVGA device running Windows Mobile 6.0 or higher (see the additional requirements below). Spotify is a proprietary peer-to-peer music streaming service that allows instant listening to specific tracks or albums with virtually no buffering delay. Music can be browsed by artists, albums, record labels or created playlists as well as by direct searches. Although, due to the system’s DRM, it is not possible to save the streamed music for use outside the application, a link is provided to allow the listener to directly purchase the material via partner retailers. The service is currently only available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the United Kingdom, France and Spain.

Features:

Full implementation of the Spotify search and top list functions
