HD2SoftReset is a very simple windows mobile software which soft resets the device. Inspired on and intended to fit the HTC HD2 which does not have the traditional softreset button easily reachable (you need to remove the back cover lid for it) and still you need to have something like a stylus to press it, which HD2 neither has. This software will allow you to softreset with just a tap. Soft reset is mostly required after installing applications, or after changing any registry or device configuration. Soft reset is also recommended to be performed periodically because it will ‘clean’ the devices RAM to ensure the phone operates in the optimal way. When the operating system or any application causes the device to become laggy or slow, then it is also a sign that a soft reset should be done.

Windows Mobile doesn’t have a simple power utility to shutdown, soft reset or put your phone to sleep. There are a few 3rd party apps that do this, but many of them are boring. Cythrelo has made an interesting utility that does all that and makes it fun to use. If you use S2U2, you will appreciate the sliding functions. The newest version supports all resolutions and fixes a big bug that caused it not to function properly on HTC devices.

Changes in v1.1, 31/08/2009:

* FIXED: HTC devices should shutdown properly now(credit to DaveShaw). Omnia devices may not though. Please notify developer if this is the case.
* ADDED: Support for multiple languages. French and German (thanks basthet!) included. See above for information on enabling this.

Note: you can either install Slide2Shutdown as a standalone utility or bind it to the power key of your device.

PowerOptions, from TinTin, is a power tool for HTC devices to easily soft reset, shut down, turn off backlight and put the device into standby mode all from one little application written in native C++. You can either download the full app or install standalone apps that do specific power functions with a simple click.

Note: this app was developed for QVGA and WVGA HTC devices. Please contact the developer for any inquiries.

The functions:

- SoftReset: will soft reset (warm boot) the device using a safe method advised by msdn (microsoft developer network).

- Shutdown: will shut down the device using the same (HTC) method as if you’d press and hold the power on/off button for longer.

- Standby: will suspend the device using the same method as if you’d press and hold the power on/off button shortly.

- Dim Light: will turn off the backlight.

- Screen off: will completely turn off the screen while WIFI, bluetooth, music etc. will still run.

MySoftReset 1.0.0.0 – soft reset tool for pocket pc

MySoftReset

MySoftReset is a pocket pc freeware Soft-Reset tool. Usually this is done by pressing a small button hidden on the hardware device. This, however, appears uncomfortable as it requires the use of the stylus or a pin and on some devices the key to the Soft-Reset is even located under the back cover, a very awkward position. With this program, however the operation is much simpler. Run the program, and press yes on the confirmation dialogue the device will restart itself. The program was originally in Italian, but it can be translated into any language very easily. To change the message simply create a file “lang.ini” dell’EXE in the same folder containing the text you want to view and you’re done.

There are 2 ways to install. The first link (CAB), recommended for inexperienced users, install the program on the device and creates a link in the start menu. The second (EXE), recommended for more advanced users, is just the exe of the program to be copied on the device to the desired location and run manually.

With Shutdown for Pocket PCs you can easy perform a soft restart of your device. The dialog style has the same appearance like the Microsoft Windows XP Shutdown dialog. You can have a Short cut icon in the taskbar for easy access.

The buttons are Cancel, Turn Off, and Restart. Selecting Turn off instantly sends your PocketPC into hibernation and clicking Restart performs a software reset.
