iSMSserver v1.2

iSMSserver v1.2 makes it possible to retrieve information from your device, or add information to your device by sending a properly formatted SMS to it. For example you want to send your friends or some one else your contacts, tasks, appointments via SMS, or maybe you forgot your phone at home and want to know a phone number from your contacts

Commands are:

  • Get phone number by name
  • Get name by phone number
  • Add contact to phone
  • Add task to phone
  • Add appointment
  • Beep
  • Resend

A properly formatted SMS looks like this:

pass,addcontact,Saijo George,+12345678
This will add the contact Saijo George with phone number +12345678 to your device. Pass is the password for the software, so that it is not abused by people who are unauthorised.

pass,getphonebyname,Saijo George,m
this name has to be the exact name as its in you contact list, eg if u try Saijo instead of Saijo George it will crash the application, m is for mobile number

Note : will need to reboot after installation for this to work

New in v1.2:

  • fixed GETPHONEBYNAME command, the name of contact now can be with out case sensitive.
  • New command RESEND, this command work like proxy server, but only with SMS

TellMeText

TellMeText

TellMeText intercepts incoming SMS (text) messages to your Windows Mobile device and reads them out to you before they go to your inbox. This can be really useful in situations where you have your phone but can’t or don’t want to physically touch it to read incoming messages. (For example, if you’re driving a car or eating your lunch). TellMeText can run in the background so it doesn’t interfere with your normal use of the device. PC Phone Edition 2003SE or later Any Windows Mobile 6 Standard or Professional. Best of all its a freeware.

Image

The TextToSpeech functionality is provided by software from the Flite project. TellMeText requires privileged access to your device in order to intercept the SMS messages. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you download and install BlondieSoft’s Windows Mobile Certificates first. ( might not need to do this on custom cooked ROMS)

Install Instructions

• Install MobileCertificates.cab file first
• Now install TellMeText_Signed.cab to either main memory or MMC
• Soft-reset your device
• Execute the program and choose minimize from the menu to make it run in the background

TxtMan 2.0

TxtMan is a threaded SMS program for Windows Mobile 5.0+. It sends and receives text messages (SMS) and displays the messages as a conversation, like an instant messenger client.

TxtMan 2.0mainform.gif

TxtMan has been tested mainly on the Motorola Q, but has been reported to work on these devices:

* Motorola Q
* Treo 700w
* Treo 700wx
* Cingular 8125
* Verizon XV6700
* Samsung i320
* T-Mobile Dash
* Samsung Blackjack
* Cingular 8525
* Orange M3100
* T-Mobile SDA
* O2 XDA Exec
* T-Mobile MDA (vibrate may not work)

It may work on other devices. If you’re running Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone or Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition, give it a try. If it works, let me know so I can add your device to this list. TxtMan has been reported to work on some devices running Windows Mobile 6.0. TxtMan requires the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 to be installed on your phone in order to run. It’s free, and many other Windows Mobile programs require it, so it’s a good thing to have. To download it here

Notes:

  • TxtMan no longer needs to be running to receive incoming SMS messages. TxtMan will launch automatically upon the receipt of an SMS message.
  • You won’t get message notifications like the built in messaging app gives you, but the program will play a sound, vibrate, and bring itself to the foreground when a message is received. If the phone’s ringer is off (silent mode) or you are on a call, TxtMan will not make a sound when an SMS is received. However, it will still vibrate, unless you turn that off in the options.
  • Due to the peculiarities of the .NET Compact Framework, when the focus is on the conversation window, pressing up and down on the 5-way pad scrolls the conversation, but will not move the focus back to the text input area. To move the focus away from the conversation window, press any key except up or down. For some reason, this applies to some devices, and not others.

PIM Backup v2.8

The image “http://www.dotfred.net/ppcpimbackup.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

PIM Backup

Features:

This tool has been made in order to replace the PPCBckpContacts application.
As its predecessor, PPCPimBackup allows to backup/restore the Personal information of the pocket pc user, but new functionalities have been added.

This tool allows to backup/restore:

- appointments
- call logs
- contacts
- messages (SMS, Mails, …) NEW !!!
- speed dials
- tasks

Restore contacts: It is possible now to restore a text file containing contacts backed up from other applications, like in Outlook Express, the only constraint is that the first line should contain the fields and the fields need a separator. (See screenshots). The tool allows to map default fields to fields found in the file. It is possible now to insert duplicates.

Backup messages: The mail database is completely parsed to retrieve all the messages stored in every directory and subdirectory. It is possible to select which account and directories should be backed up. You can save attachments as wel if they exist on the pocket pc.

Restore messages: Same as the backup, you can select which account and directories should be restored to the device. Caution, if an account doesn’t exist on the pocket pc, this application will discard the messages that belong to that account.

Restore appointments: There was a bug in PPCBckpContacts where appointments with the same name on different dates weren’t restored. This should be fixed in this tool.

Schedule backup: It is possible to schedule a backup, each day of the week and this at a specific hour. If the pocket pc is suspended, it will wake up and do the backup. You can eventually control the number of backups to keep and switch off the pocket pc after the scheduled backup is finished.
The schedule backup creates a notification that can be cleared via the Options Menu.

File types: There is only one file type now, which is .pib (Personal Information Backup), in fact it is just a zip file (so you can open it with a zip application) which contain the different text files used in PPCBckpContacts, so you can still extract these files, edit them on a pc using Excel or Notepad and eventually restore them without putting them back in the .pib file.

To do:

* MMS Backup/restore doesn’t work!
* fix problem with mms “attachments” which are stored on disk but are not considered as attachments in the cemail.vol (wonderful!)
Arcsoft MMS software uses own-defined properties (blobs) in pmailMsgs table in cemail.vol but I cannot decipher them for the moment.
*conversion of text backups <-> binary backups

The exe contained in the zip file, should be copied and launched on the pocket pc, and not on a pc.
