WP7 Root Tools from Heathcliff74 is one app most Homebrew App users on Windows Phone will be familiar with. We have seen the app from its initial release and it has slowly grown to include a lot more features. You will need to be Interop Unlocked to use WP7 Root Tools on your phone ( which is currently at version 0.9 ) and it will give you true Root Access to devices with stock ROM !!!

WP7 Root Tools version 0.9 now add Certificate Installer and a Policy Editor along with File Explorer, Registry Editor and it will also support a lot more devices too

Registry Editor were dime a dozen on Windows Mobile but they are hard to come by on Windows Phone 7 but WP7 HomeBrew App developer Julien Schapman was not happy about this and have release a client that allow users to create/edit/delete registry keys and values on their windows phone 7 device. You will need a developer-unlocked device or a unlocked device via ChevronWP7. As always head over to xda-dev for some good Registry hacks. You can download the XAP from here.

If you have a HTC Touch Pro2 and if you are comfortable with editing the registry to get the most out of your device head over to EverythingDiamond.info and check out the hack posted there. Some of the hacks include

• Disables the security prompts when installing unsigned cabs
• Disable SMS Sent Notification
• Enable In-Call Recording

Opera Mobile

After using Opera Mobile and exiting the application, you might notice in your Task Manager (other than HTC Task Manager) that its process is still running in the background until you kill it ( I think its mostly when the device is running TouchFlo 3D ).

Anton D. Nagy from pocketnow.com receltly posted a hack from xda-developers to fix this issue. You need to edit your registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Preload and change the value of “RealExit” from “0” to “1”. This would prevent Opera Mobile’s process from staying memory resident after exiting the application and forcing it to really exit, thus clearing up some memory space. In case you don’t have this registry hierarchy, create it. RealExit should be DWord.

For those who don’t want to play with the registry just use the cab file and reboot after installing it.

Hi Res panorama shot

Recetly wmpoweruser.com reported about a registry tweak to turn your Panoramic photos from the standard (1408 x 480) 0.67mp to (4506×1536) 6.92mp.  This registry change seems to work for the HTC Diamond / HTC Touch Pro / HTC Fuze / HTC Touch HD.

You can get your hands dirty and apply the registry changes manually

Registry Change:

Adjust MainCamCaptSize to 1024 and MainCamSupportCaptSize to 1744.[/code]

or just install this Panorama Tweak and reboot.

To take panoramic photos select the Camera icon to enable the Capture mode and select panorama.

You can also automatically activate the speakerphone when you are making an outgoing call by checking the Outgoing ON in the menu.
