PocketShield is an intelligent screen locker. Prevents accidental touch on the phone screen specially when it is turned on not precisely by you. For example: when receiving calls, email notifications, SMS, alarms, battery alerts, reminders, etc. As you may have experienced, PocketPCs “wake up” whenever any of these events occur, they will also wake up when batteries are low, and randomly when phone signal changes antenna depending on your location. But the problem is: What if the phone is inside your pocket in that moment? Touch screens will take any touch over it as a user input, and arbitrary “touching” could cause many undesired results!

We have released a new edition of PocketShield: the “Proximity” Edition for devices with proximity sensor. Currently only supported for TouchPro2, Tilt2 and HD2. Soon it will be supported for HD Mini, Samsung Omnia2 and Omnia Pro.
PocketShield “Proximity” Edition has the same core functionality of PocketShield but narrowed down to operate only with a proximity sensor. No other unlocking mechanisms are available as the proximity itself eliminates the need of any other alternative methods. It is not a “lock screen” oriented protection, it actually still has a very simple black screen but can be barely noted as it will only work when device is covered or stored inside its case, pocket or bag. As soon as no object is close to the sensor it will automatically unlock.
Since no lock screen is necessary, there are no notification options available, neither lock screen “Design”. Phone options are also limited, and it is assumed that the phone application has its own protecting mechanism, except for hardware keys which PocketShield “Proximity” will continue blocking.

New beta release featuring automatic unlock by using the proximity sensor on the HD2 (TP2 not tested).
Change log:
Automatic unlock with proximity sensor. Behavior: if device wakes up and is close to an object (3cm close at most), device remains locked, screen turns off, auto powers off after X seconds if not unlocked. Else it will unlock. *
Added extra unlock check for both light and proximity unlock: * if device is upside down it will not unlock even if light present or device is cleared from objects. The tip: Store phone head down for extra confidence.

Auto detect caller ID picture size. The legacy Outlook (low resolution) pictures will not be displayed in fullscreen to prevent distortion.
Default setting for auto-rotation is now 0 (disabled). To always wake up in portrait must set HKLM\…\ROTATE=2
Added support for Manila (TF3D) Music player (for “Except when” permissions). Now you can play TF3D Music in screen off and locked.
Improved integration with Windows Media Player (for “screen off” operations)

Windows mobile has got a lot of screen lock applications , but this particular shareware application called PocketShield offers a unique way of locking and unlocking the screen. PocketShield uses the light sensor to determine if the phone is inside something(without light reaching it). So if it’s receiving light it is probably because you have it in your hand, or you have it over your desk, or someplace where there would be no reason to have it locked. Other locking options include
Hand gesture, moving it in a particular way.
Slide your finger over the screen from the top towards down.
