Could Windows Phone get Instagram before Android [ Rumor ]

Instagram is a free photo sharing application that allows users to take photos, apply various effects and easily share it on the service or a variety of other social network like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Tumblr, Flickr , and Posterous. If you are on a Sammy ( read Samsung ) device Photogram does something similar but Instagram has seen phenomenal success on the iPhone ( with over 15 million users and was also recently named as iPhone app of the year by Apple ). It would be good to get that app on Windows Phone , especially since these days most complains about windows phone is the lack of high profile apps and what is even better is that there are rumors going around which hints at a release for Windows Phone before Android !!

Slothshots is a windows phone 7 app that allows the users to add speech bubble to their pics on WP7. If you wnnt to add comical effects to your pic this app might be worth the look. The app is developed by Amused Sloth, the same guys who released the Wikipedia app slothcyclopedia.

We did come across HTC Photo Enhancer on the Mozart and now Sammy has released their own Photo Effects app in the Samsung Zone ( that’s their name for the WP7 App Store ).

Ascii art for the uninitiated is used to refer to text based art in general that the only the cool kids could do back in the days but now a days any one can upload an image and the there are sites that can generate the ASCII Art for you and now with apps like AsciiCamera its available right on your Windows Phone 7.

I was a huge fan of Color Splash for the iPhone and had hoped to see some app like that on WP7 , now thanks to Kitron Software I don’t think I will need to wait that long.

Colorize for Windows Phone 7 will let you quickly give photos stunning effect by converting them to black and white, while keeping certain details that you choose in color. This effect will automatically draws the viewers’ attention to the colored areas resulting in striking photos for your Facebook and Twitter Account. From the demo the app looks quite easy to use with multi-touch user interface for zooming in and out and work on details with pixel-accuracy.

OutSync is a free Windows application that syncs photos of your Facebook friends with matching contacts in Microsoft Outlook. It allows you to select which contacts are updated, so you can update all contacts at once or just a few at a time. The main benefit of OutSync is for Windows Mobile users. Updated contacts are automatically synced with Windows Mobile devices by Exchange server or ActiveSync. Thus, new and fun photos appear during calls and other places where contacts are used. Note: OutSync is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Server 2003. It requires Outlook 2003 or 2007.

Setup:

1. Download and install OutSync.msi.
2. Launch OutSync from the Start Menu. Initial startup may take 1-2 minutes, please be patient.
3. Login to Facebook from within OutSync and wait until contacts are matched.
4. [Optional] Uncheck contacts you don’t want to sync.
5. Press the Sync button to update selected Outlook contacts from Facebook.
