Is it weird so many of us are so excited about the Mango Press Event , keep in mind we will just see the features in the next major Windows Phone update and not actually get the update today. Anyhoo there are a lot us us who will not be able to make it to NYC, London, etc where the press event will be held but the good folks at Microsoft has made it possible for every one who is interested in the platform to check out what is showcased today via a Live Video stream of the press event direct from NYC !!

artn3r’s mobile tv – get mobile tv streams on windows phone

Most of the time you want to look for mobile tv / radio streams you have to launch specific apps like online TVx or a browser to look for the links to mobile streams. User the browser to do this was not something artn3r from xda-developers liked to do , so like many of the developers on there he set out to write his own app, the result is artn3r’s mobile tv.

He describes a bit about the application on his website, artn3r’s mobile tv consists of 2 parts, the parser and the player. The parser runs as php script on a webserver, it fetches the streaming websites and parses their xhtml code, extracting all playable links, these results are sent across to the client which is on your windows
mobile device.

Youtube App for Windows Mobile has been updated, they have added search query suggestions, ‘My Account’ support, and a new homescreen user interface that is optimized for larger screens. Now when you log into your YouTube account on our phone, you can view your favorites, subscriptions and playlists from wherever you are. Let’s say you have recently found a windows mobile game review and favorited it on your desktop PC. When you’re out with your friends all you need to do is launch the YouTube app and go to your “Favorites” to show it to them.

Another feature that we have added is query suggestions. When you type into the YouTube search box, you get relevant suggestions. This saves on typing which is especially useful for mobile phones where text input may be difficult.

YoutubePlay is a Windows Mobile Freeware YouTube search/player application. Bit like the latest CorePlayer. It allows you to search for videos in a nice friendly Pocket PC 2003 and greater app and then stream the full FLV video (not miniscule MPEG4 versions) within its own player. This app can also download the FLV videos for offline use and also then extract the soundtrack to an MP3 file. The video player overlay is hacked out of TCPMP and the FLV part is based on FFMPEG. The app is written in a mixture of .net and C so you need the .net runtime, v2 or v3.5

Updates in v1.0.0.11

New – Fully works on Pocket PC 2003 now, found the horrid bug that stopped it
New – Will open and play VP6 (On2) FLV files, slow but should work
New – Uses newer version of FFMPEG SVN from a few days ago
Fix – Fullscreen should work if you start in landscape mode now
