Something that started as a homebrew app Walkman7 has now been accepted by the WP7 Marketplace. Developed by XDA member Marvin_S this app is a music player that allows you to search for and play music , you can create a playlist and even download the music.
WP7 App Description
Walkman7 provides you with free access to a rich database of music. Search for the latest songs, discover new artists and create playlists on the go. The songs in the playlist will be streamed and can be downloaded for offline playback.
Walkman7 features a beautiful designed metro-style UI with Icons adapting to the accent colours of your phone. The app is quick, remembers your last search and playlist, can run under the lockscreen to quickly find and keep playing the music you want wherever you go.

mySpot
mySpot is a pocket pc software that provides access to the Spotify service on the Windows Mobile platform. It should works with any QVGA, VGA or WVGA device running Windows Mobile 6.0 or higher (see the additional requirements below). Spotify is a proprietary peer-to-peer music streaming service that allows instant listening to specific tracks or albums with virtually no buffering delay. Music can be browsed by artists, albums, record labels or created playlists as well as by direct searches. Although, due to the system’s DRM, it is not possible to save the streamed music for use outside the application, a link is provided to allow the listener to directly purchase the material via partner retailers. The service is currently only available in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the United Kingdom, France and Spain.
Features:
- Full implementation of the Spotify search and top list functions
- Choose your own media player – define how each track is played (CorePlayer v1.30 is recommended)
- Album artwork can also be downloaded as required
Requirements:
- The .NET 2.0 Compact Framework (which should come with Windows Mobile 6.0 and above as standard)
- A Premium Spotify Account (register at http://www.spotify.com)
- A media player that supports the ogg audio format (eg. CorePlayer)
- The app requires a data connection to work

GrooveFish
Groovefish is a Windows Mobile 6.0 client for the Grooveshark service, which allows you to play virtually any song in the world – from anywhere. This is turing out to be one of the best pocket pc software.
Changes (since v0.3.1)
- Big rewrite of some of the code – should fix some problems, may cause others!
- Sporadic crash on exit should now be fixed.
- Searches can now be cancelled.
- Fixes a crash that sometimes occurred when scrolling the search results.
- QVGA compatibility!!

- Music player should be less buggy now
- Crash on exit should be fixed
- Music player now give more information when connecting to a stream.
- More debugging information (it’s useful for the developer)
- Two options added; Pause on headset disconnect and Pause on incoming call.

- Screen will no longer turn off while the application is running, ensuring the music won’t stop playing.
- Completely rewritten code base for greater stability.
- Huge improvements to the user interface, allowing search, browsing, and playing on one screen.
- Search results now display the song and artist name.
- Media player now allows for playing, pausing, and seeking the music stream.
