Nokia Lumia 800
There was concerns that the Windows Phone 7.8 update was going to be on a slow roll out for the lumia family of devices. A new firmware build of Windows Phone 7.8 ( build 8858 ) has been spotted over at NaviFirm for a number of Lumia devices like the 510, 610, 710, 800, and 900. This can only mean that the official roll out is going to happen very soon, perhaps they want to give us this update for Christmas ? In any case if you want to jump the queue and put WP7.8 on your phone right now , we got a video that will run you through the process. ( WARNING : as always you are on you own if you decide to go down this path , any issues that may arise out of this is all on you and you are likely going to void any warranty in the process )
Here is a tip that was sent to us by one of our readers Adithya who happened to be wandering around the Android section of the store ( now why you you do that ;) ) where he saw one …
Getting Custom Skins are easy and 710 also comes with swappable covers but what if you could get custom paint job on your Lumia 800 and 900 ? If you thought the cyan lumia 800 was pretty wait till you see these custom paint work by iaintnosaintpaint.com. These are just preliminary designs for training and testing purposes but they looks pretty awesome if you ask me.
As Windows Phone gets more mainstream we are starting to see more cool things people are doing with Windows Phone. This time we are treated to some music created almost entirely by Windows Phone Apps by Matt Oglesby. Video after the break.
Nokia recently ran a Nokia Lumia Quest for Australians and here is another contest for Australians ( sorry rest of the world ) this time from Microsoft Australia , who wants to give away 3 Nokia Lumia 800s. Entry is …
Here is something that serves no really purpose to most of us , unless ofcourse you are a stunt pilot or something and decides to exit the aircraft with the lumia 800 out of your pocket .. but even then its nice to know that the Lumia can take a good pounding and still work with no issue. When people have too much time and money they might decide to do crazy experiments like this.
Can the Nokia Lumia 800 survive the extreme pressures of a MACH 5 wind tunnel? That’s the question we’re here to find out. To give you some idea of the stresses and strains the smartphone will be going through, MACH 5 is classed as ‘hypersonic’, something akin to a jet pilot going into a nose dive. With that in mind, buckle in, sit back and prepare to see the Nokia Lumia 800 in the ride of it’s life!
You know most of the time when an ad is about an app you see an iPhone being used but imagin my surprise to see a Lumia 800 being used for Lynx April Fool’s Day Spray App. Its a fantastic …

Back in the days gadgets used to have 2 main color choices black or metal ( anyone remember those ) . But coz of the little success Apple’s iPod bought about the new happening color in tech world is white. …
… I am taking about Advertising Windows Phone to the masses. The marketing efforts of Microsoft ( in Australia ) in regards to Windows Phone was well, not enough by any means there were hardly any TV ads .. there were a few in the beginning but then it just faded away. But Nokia has been quite busy marketing their Lumia series in Australia from interactive giant lumia 800s in the street , TV ads and even full page ads in Newspapers .. MX is a popular free newspaper in Melbourne , most commuters pick it up on their way back home and in Melbourne their readership is over to 300,000 and when you put an ad like this , it will get noticed .. look and learn Microsoft. ( excludes Ben Rudolph, that guy is a super star .. one of the few left since Brandon Watson left Microsoft )
The Finns at Nokia have started rolling out their latest firmware for the Lumia 800 that addresses several bugs; primarily their third attempt at fixing the battery bug that has plagued many Lumia 800 owners, a camera mode change from Macro back to Normal which gives crisper close-up photos, Camera white balance has been looked at, the shutter sound option has been removed and there has been an audio fix which is claimed to give better bass when using headphones. Nokia have also updated the ‘on-device diagnostics tool’ which now has omissions in the Battery Status area. The update has been reported to still have a few bugs remaining, for example, if your volume is set to 10/30 and you plug the phone into the mains to charge, the phone beeps at full volume.
It would appear Telstra will be starting to sell White Nokia Lumia 800 from 20 March in Australia. If you dont care about the color you can pick up the device in black starting from Tuesday 13th March. The Lumia …
Nokia have posted some witty video’s of T-Mobile customers that ordered their Nokia Lumia 800 on the web having their new mobile phone delivered.
Nokia.hu have posted several delivery videos which include Circus Maximus, Dancing girls, Michael Jackson and an astronaut.
To see more “Amazing Deliveries” check out G2budapest’s YouTube channel.
Nokia have put a lot of effort into their marketing campaigns, by running TV adverts and program sponsorship. Australia will start seeing “The Amazing Everyday” adverts starting on 1st March and running for a whole month, to promote the Lumia product launch. I have no doubt that Nokia will push the boat out in this market, Just as they have everywhere else.
Nokia are really pushing out the boat with their marketing campaign recently, having over 1 million Lumia 800′s sold to carriers, and with new phones coming out in the coming weeks, it’s kinda hard not to notice the efforts the Finnish manufacturer are going to, to get the brand back where they feel they deserve to be.
