SwitchNews is a new Google news app for Windows Phone, we have seen a few others like Goo News that offer google news via an app. The developer informs us SwitchNews allows users to see the latest news from your country (26 countries supported) and add custom keyword-based feeds for your favorite topics. You can also share news item that you find interesting on Facebook and Twitter. It’s available for free (no ads) on the Marketplace in English and French from the “news + weather” category. I was tired of bloated websites that are not optimized for a mobile device. They can take a while to load, be slow to navigate, present you with pop-up ads, and generally annoy you. There are a lot of news app for Windows Phone 7 , we did take a look at UN News a while ago, now we have GooNews which is a wp7 app that brings Google News to windows phone 7 in style. The app fetches all the main categories from Google news and you have the option to toggle any of the given default categories and the best feature is you can select any topic and Goonews will fetch news item related from Google news and display it as one of the tab. You can even launch each article by clicking on it which will open the story in Pocket IE windows within the app from where you can easily save it to InstaPaper or share it via email or open the story in Pocket IE. Over all the WP7 app works as advertised and we found it was quite fast and worked well. The WP7 app GooNews is free and if you are looking for a way to keep on top of the various news breaking all over the world then this is a great app.

The Straits Times is an English-language daily broadsheet newspaper based in Singapore, currently owned by the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). It is the country’s highest-selling paper and now you can get the latest news from The Straits Times on your windows mobile phone. As you can see from the screenshots they have tried to bring in some of the Metro UI in to the app.
New York Daily News Launches App for Windows Mobile the app looks similar to the The Associated Press App , the app doesn’t look very polished . In any case if you want it head over to nydailynews.com/mobile or text ‘MOBILE’ to DNEWS (36397).
The app is available for iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile right now, the New York Daily News also has plans to expand into additional platforms, including Palm, webOS, Android and J2ME-based devices in the near future.
