Kinoma FreePlay is the free version of the popular Windows Mobile player called Kinoma Play. The free version is limited compared to its retail version, but it is still a very capable media player. The full version just adds a lot of optional features that you wouldn’t normally find in a regular media player. Kinoma FreePlay will work as your music player, image viewer, movie player and more. The screen will even rotate while listening to music, using your device’s built-in accelerometer.

We recently reported about an app called Flix, which lets you look up movie listings for nearby theaters by postal code or GPS location. It also lets you call the theater directly from the app, lists the runtime & cast info, and provides a synopsis.

The initial release was geared toward UK audiences. Now, it supports not only the UK, but also France and Germany. The developer, jmbillings, is currently working to add support for Spain and Italy. He also plans to add North America, but it’s probably further down his list of regions to add due to complexity. Until the U.S and Canada are added, an app called Cinemo may interest those living there.

Changes since the last release:

-Now supports France and Germany
-Google Maps loading should work if it’s installed in non-std locations
-Where Am I function now uses online Geocoding to work in the new countries
-Some improvements to parsing behind the scenes

Ever wish there was a dedicated application just for movie listings? Well, a member at XDA, danielgary, has created a finger friendly app called Cinemo, which makes looking up movie listings quick and efficient. With Cinemo, you have the ability to look up movies by postal code or GPS location. After setting your location, you’re able to check nearby theaters for showtimes. Another nice touch is that the movie rating, length and critic’s score are all visible on the same screen. You’re also provided with the selected theater’s address and phone number. Try it out and let us know if you think it’s better than the alternatives.

Notes: so far, this app seems to be limited to theaters within the United States and Canada. You will also need .NET CF 3.5 and a VGA device (as listed by the developer).

Jmbillings has created an application that’s similar to and inspired by Cinemo, but for UK audiences. Basically, it allows you to look up movie listings by postal code, town or GPS location. You will need .NET Compact Framework 3.5 installed on your device. A list of features is provided below.
