An Opensource variation of TCPMP

TCMP

bimbam69 from xda-developers has compiled a custom build of TCMP, an opensource media player app. According to the developer these are the changes

Working equalizer
Some updated codec libraries: flac(updated to version 1.21 gains almost the same benchmark values compared to coreplayer),
matroska parser(note that matroska support was broken due to changes in mkv format, now it works fine),
latest ffmpeg static build (without avcodec and avutil dll’s)
Contains merged flv1 and flv4 plugins (implemented into ffmpeg.plg and splitter.plg)
Built in subtitle support be sure to visit homepage of that plugin for more information how to use it and limitations
Contains modified language.tgz file (enables usage of wmv dll’s and allows to play wmv files, dll’s isn’t included) thanks to frmariam for mentioning this (be sure to visit his magic stash related to tcpmp on mediafire http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=f…71ee60c1ce7296)
Fixed cab installer, able to install into Storage Card
And finally some eyecandy – added skin support for player, supports both landscape and portrait modes. This is similar to older tcpmp-0.71j build. I’ve managed to reimplement this, unfortunately this doesn’t offer full skinable interface just for main window. (note that skin support is in early development stage so some bugs may appear if you don’t like the way it works just dont’t put skin files into TCPMP dir and use default interface)

Kinoma FreePlay is the free version of the popular Windows Mobile player called Kinoma Play. The free version is limited compared to its retail version, but it is still a very capable media player. The full version just adds a lot of optional features that you wouldn’t normally find in a regular media player. Kinoma FreePlay will work as your music player, image viewer, movie player and more. The screen will even rotate while listening to music, using your device’s built-in accelerometer.

Microfi Nitrogen

Microfi Nitrogen is a native opensource Windows Mobile application that allows you to play MP3/OGG songs stored on your Pocket PC device.
It features a file browser, full skin support, smart shuffle and repeat modes, a 10-band equalizer with preset support (8 included presets), built-in sleep mode, a blank screen command to prevent energy waste while playing music and many more new features. Nitrogen uses the MAD/OVD decoders, which are opensource. As the official releases of MAD for Pocket PC seem to be discontinued, Nitrogen uses the libraries from an opensource player (GSPlayer).
Nitrogen was build due to the lack of finger-friendly players for Pocket PC (you have to use stylus even for simple tasks). It features large buttons and you can browse among your playlist by drawing circles on the screen (using skins which support wheel component). In future releases the program will be expected to have other extensions support and more features, but such things are still being tested to ensure stability and efficiency.

The good folks over @ xda-dev has done it again, the Omnia Today Screen can be put on to any touchscreen device running Windows Mobile.

Install Instructions:

Install AdobeFlashLite 2.1
Install Samsung Omnia SMPlayer/Touch Player
Install Opera 9
Install Samsung Omnia Today Plugins
Put your pictures into \\My Documents\\My Pictures folder on your device (not storage card)
For Kaiser/Other device with screen height 320 Install SJ GrandP_320.cab and Install SJ DCINOBAR.cab to remove the taskbar.

HTC hardware equalizer compatible with most (but not all) HTC Pocket PC Phone Edition models. Hardware equalizers have the BIG advantage of not adding any additional CPU usage, unlike software equalizers used by most multimedia players. This is only for headphones and will not improve the quality of the inbuilt speakers.

HOW TO START: After installing to device , use the .lnk file in the zip archive just copy the file to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs

The V2R Active UI MultiTouch is available, straight from the Pocket PC Todayscreen . As long as the plug in isn’t selected it allows you to control WiFi, vibration, time and date, your alarms and device lock directly from the Today screen. By clicking on the icons in the top you can scroll through all the latest V2R applications such as:
V2R MediaPlayer, to listen to your favorite songs directly from the Today screen
V2R Notifications, to be informed about the latest missed events
V2R VExplorer, to add your favorite applications
V2R Active UI, to start your favorite applications from the Today screen
