So its all but certain that xBox live is coming to Windows Mobile 7 according to the article on WMPU. It might be called ” Xbox LIVE Games ” and is most likely going to be only for Windows Mobile 7. Exclusives like this will definitely help Windows Mobile to get back in to the Smartphone race.
Looks like the apple fanbois are not too happy. Remember the time when we had to look at all those apps and games for the iPhone and when we requested the devs to port their apps to WM and the iPhone trolls would shoot you down in the comments ( i always felt they were paid to trash talk about WM ). Now with the momentum WM7 is getting all that might change. Everyone wants a piece of the XBox Live Games pie that WM7 is baking.
Some comments for your reading pleasure :
… If this doesn’t eventually make its way to the Android and Blackberry OS then I predict total and catastrophic failure….
….No iPhone or even Android? This has fail written all over it….
….it doesn’t stop it being a big fat waste of everyone’s time since they’ve essentially ensured that it will fail to have any traction since who the hell uses Windows Mobile?….

They showed some early screenshots / demo of the project back in 2006 ( It was then called Live Anywhere ). The idea was Whether you’re at your PC or on the move with a mobile, you would be able to track your gamer tag, message friends, purchase content for that device or set it to download to another device, and compare rankings with your buddies on various gaming titles. This was exciting in 2006 but now since Microsoft dropped the ball on that there are some 3rd party Apps on Windows Mobile that tries to bring these features ( mind you they are not as feature rich as what Live Anywhere could have been ) . They are Mobile GamerTag and WM Live 0.8 beta

But with the buzz around the new Job posting looking to Integrate xBox and WM I hope it is some thing which allows uses to challenge other WM users for online battle in some new line of WM7 games that integrates multiplayer gameplay with friends ( kind of like what Eliminate Pro does for the iPhone with push notifications , imagine something like HALO on the WM7 devices .. that would be so cool )
