Light Sensor

PocketShield

PocketShield

If you constantly find that you accidentally click on the screen while the device is in the pocket then you will love this Pocket PC Software. PocketShield is an intelligent locking/unlocking application. Prevents accidental touch on the phone screen specially when it is turned on not precisely by you. For example: when receiving calls, email notifications, SMS, alarms, etc. As you may have experienced, PocketPCs “wake up” whenever any of these events occur, they will also wake up when batteries are low, and randomly when phone signal changes antenna depending on your location. But the problem is: what if the phone is inside your pocket in that moment? or inside its case or pouch? Touch screens will take any touch over it as a user input, and arbitrary “touching” could cause many undesired results.

PocketShield uses the light sensor to determine if the phone is inside something(without light reaching it). So if it’s receiving light it is probably because you have it in your hand, or you have it over your desk, or someplace where there would be no reason to have it locked. Other locking options include

  • Hand gesture, moving it in a particular way.
  • Slide your finger over the screen from the top towards down.
  • Stylus out.
  • Press D-pad round button.
  • Application permissions

You can combine any of the 5 unlocking mechanisms, as they are designed to work together. Choose the configuration that suits you better!

TouchLockPro

TouchLockPro

TouchLockPro is an opensource windows mobile freeware designed not to interfere with running applications and is a multipurpose locking application. Other locking solutions are often specific for locking only incoming calls/SMS. A lot of locking solutions also place a (transparant looking) Window on top of the running application (e.g. slide 2 unlock), so the information of the background application is no longer visible. This is not the case for TouchLockPro, so it can be kept lean and mean. Also the used resources is very very low.

Features:

  • lock using the Power button, BattClock and/or Stylus Sensor
  • auto-unlock by the Light Sensor
  • unlock using triple touch of the Capacitive Sensor
  • unlock using Stylus Sensor
  • unlock when on AC/USB power

LUMOS v08 – HTC Auto-Backlight replacement

by Saijo George on December 3, 2008

in Uncategorized

lumos

lumos

Lumos is fully customizable auto-backlight changer developed as a complete replacement for HTC built-in auto backlight service in newest HTC devices starting from HTC Diamond and Raphael. It focuses on minimal CPU usage (0.05-0.2%), maximum battery saving, low memory footprint and maximum backlight change smoothness and responsiveness. Lumos combines only the best from all currently available auto-backlight solutions and adds many extras.

You need to disable built-in auto-backlight or this won’t probably work. Start – Settings – System tab – Power – Backlight tab and DISABLE the ‘Auto adjust backlight’ feature.

Just install the CAB, soft reset or start Lumos from programs and you’re all set!
- Lumos always installs to the device (no matter what you chose)
- Installer will create auto-start entry (Lumos will start after a soft-reset)
- Installer will create a shortcut to LumosWizard in your programs
- All next versions will be able to use v07+ configuration file (no need to recalibrate ever again after you install this)

Program installs to \Program Files\Lumos\
Lumos.exe = starts/stops auto backlight service
LumosWizard.exe = tool to configure all aspects of Lumos
settings.txt = configuration file is not included in the package, it will be automatically generated by LumosWizard after successful calibration, you can edit it manually or by using LumosWizard.

Klaxon

Klaxon

Klaxon is an alarm clock, with added specific functionality. It supports multiple alarms with snoozing. What makes this application special though is the ability to interact with the application, through motion or light. The user has the options to shake the phone, flip it over or turn it towards light; Klaxon has integrated feature for customization of interactivity. Users are able to associate commands (snooze, turn off) to gestures while the device feeds back by default after successful command (vibrate once for Snooze mode, vibrate twice if alarm is turned off). It supports Omnia and The HTC devices.

Example: Wake up alarm at 6:00 AM > Flip over to snooze 10 minutes > Snooze alarm at 6:10 AM > Shake to turn alarm off!
