It seems that the UK and the Windows Phone HTC Titan will no longer be friends. Today it has been noticed that the mammoth 4.7″ display Windows Phone HTC Titan is no longer being sold in the UK as it has vanished from carrier websites. Both of the large online retailers Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse have removed the Titan from their sites. In addition, carriers Vodafone, O2, Orange and T-Mo’s sites do not list the Titan either. This is very unfortunate as the HTC Titan has a great user rating at AT&T in the US with a 5/5 star rating. I myself own and LOVE the Titan!
Around 3 weeks back, just prior to the 2012 Mobile World Congress, we reported about the Nokia Lumia 719 and it passing its Bluetooth SIG. While we all hoped that this would be one of the announced models at the 2012 MWC, that was not to be the case. However, the Nokia Lumia 719 is back in the limelight. The official Chinese government radio management agency has listed this mysterious Windows Phone Nokia Lumia 900 as passing its certification and will be joining the HTC Titan as the first Windows Phones to be marketed in the enormous Chinese wireless market. It is not known which build the 719 will be running, however, I would have to believe it’s Tango. [click to continue…]
It doesn’t matter what country or region you’re from. Whether you own or follow Windows Phone you know Microsoft has an uphill battle to gain a legitimate mobile market share. While AT&T and WP seem to be a good fit here in the US, the US is going to be Microsoft’s toughest customer to win over and it’s not entirely Microsoft’s fault. While many countries are positively responding to an influx of new WP devices with WP slowly gaining in global market share, there is a good chance US will be the last country to reflect any WP growth and the last 3 months prove it.

Video comparing the start up boot times of two of HTC’s massive devices, the Titan and the Thunderbolt. While the Thunderbolt runs Android and came out January this year, the Titan is a new player in the game running Windows Phone 7. The phones are pretty much alike with the Titan featuring a better CPU. More detailed comparison can be found here. The video is pretty interesting after what you see the Titan does fared to the Thunderbolt.
Sorry it’s a little late, but here is the software review of the HTC Titan that I got to play with thanks to Clove Technology.
Now, due to Microsoft’s vision of having all Windows Phones having an identical user experience there is not very much I can say about Windows Phone itself that you won’t already have heard; so in this video, I have focussed more on what HTC have done to make their WP7 devices different from other manufacturers.
The video covers 4 areas:
Apps.
Settings.
Camera.
Ringtones.
It’s quite a long video, so grab a nice cup of tea, settle into a comfy chair & enjoy:
