DioDict is a Samsung only exclusive Windows Phone 7 App available to Samsung WP7 device owners via the Samsung Zone on the WP7 Marketplace. The app is about 40 MB and you will need to be on WiFi to download it, once downloaded you will not need an internet connection to use it like ArkWord. DioDict uses Collins Advanced English Dictionary and also has access to German, French, Italian, Spanish, etc. DioDict also allows users to use Flashcards so you can save selected words so you can easily pull up info on those words. DioDict also has a History tab which will allow you to pull up all the past words you have searched. There is a custom theme option by which you can select the colors used in the theme.
ArkWords is a windows phone 7 app that gives the user access to an online Dictionary, Thesaurus and even a Translator all from within the single windows phone 7 app. You just need to swipe across to access each module. We are not sure where the app fetches its data from but it works really well. Of course you will need to have an active internet connection for the app to work. Some of the handy features of the WP7 app is that you can pull up the word of the day with a simple push of a button. And you can even let the app say out the word which can be very handy if you are unsure of the pronunciation. You will notice that the say button will be grayed out if read out option is unavailable for that language. We did run in to some issue with the Live Tile on Samsung Omnia 7, the developer is aware of the issue and has informed us of similar issue on the focus. If you do try it out let us know how it goes on your WP7 device.
Word Explorer is an interactive English dictionary for Windows Phone 7 developed by Foundation 42. It contains over 280,000 words which you can browse through using the search capabilities. From the same guy that bought you ArkSwitch, the famous WindowsMobile 6.5.3 task manager comes a Windows Phone 7 app which features a Dictionary, Thesaurus & a Translator! I’m personally quite excited about the amount of development that’s been taking place in the build up to the release of Windows Phone 7 .
