Say you have a huge comic book collection in either CBR or CBZ but its not easy to get that collection on to your Windows Phone 7. For the uninitiated a CBZ or CBR file, is a Comic Book Archive or Comic Book Reader file, which is essentially a ZIP or RAR file renamed for the purpose of sequential viewing of images, generally comic books. There are quite a few comic book apps on Windows Phone 7 which offers a lot of functionality and allows you to read comics on the go but none is quite so simple and useful like LindyReader. Today we take a look at this comic book reader for Windows Phone and why we think its a great app for comic book fans on windows phone.

xkcd is a stick figures webcomic created by Randall Munroe. The subject matter of the comic varies, including statements on life and love (some love strips are simply art with poetry), and mathematical or scientific in-jokes. Some strips feature simple humor or pop-culture references. If you love this series then you will love the WP7 App that will allow you to enjoy them on the move. The app is developed by l3v5y , who have posted a short video demo of the app in action

This is an old video but it somehow went under our radar and we missed it. Behold the future of comic book reading experience on Windows Phone 7 devices. Using the Deep Zoom capability in Silverlight, Graphic.ly offers an immersive comic book reading experience on Windows Phone 7 Series that incorporates social interaction, with access to the subtleties of artwork and inking. The ability to share comments about a particular comic with friends from within the app looks promising and oh yeah Deep Zoom looks good too :)

Comic Reader 1.2 is a pocket pc freeware comic book reader for Windows Mobile.

Features:

  • Lense Mode! click on any part of the page and it’ll show a zoomed in section of that area.
  • Autosizing lense Lense will try to fit to the text, so its almost always the right size!
  • Portrait/Landscape mode in Full screen
  • Opens zip/cbz and rar/cbr files
  • High Quality image resize. (Text is still readable even when the comic is fit to the screen!)
  • Smooth scrolling. (even on large images)
  • Remembers what comic and page you were on
  • “Next Comic” option opens the next zip in the directory, so you don’t have to remember which one you were on
  • “Manga” when changing pages, automatically starts at the right of the page
  • Page list
  • Recent list
  • Can associate with cbz/cbr and zip/rar files
  • Touch Pro features extra commands Doubletap right panel, left panel, or action button. Use the wheel to scroll.
