Beau Allison a.k.a codeJoker is going all out on WP7 Homebrew Apps , there was mixed reaction for SMS Bomber for WP7 which was release yesterday and today we have been notified of another app called New SMS, it offers 1 click SMS solution for Windows Mobile. At the moment you have to launch the SMS app then click on the plus button and New SMS does the same thing in 1 click .. personally I can live with the 2 clicks but if 1 click SMS is your thing then .. lets just say ” there is a XAP for that ” … ;)
Yesterday it was a file explorer and today its an SMS Bomber for Unlocked Windows Phone 7 devices. This is a Jailbreak only app at this stage and has been developed by codejoker, the same folks who managed to get a Torrent Remote control app in to the WP7 Marketplace, but their new app was denied by Microsoft .. but that does not mean nobody can try it. If you have a developer unlocked device or have jailbroken your WP7 device then all you have to do is download the XAP uploaded by the developer.
According to the developer SMS Bomber is an app used to select a contact and repeatedly send the recipient messages over and over again. The application supports sending up to 140 messages (a strange limitation on Windows Phone 7′s part)… Unfortunately the application was rejected by Microsoft citing concerns that a consumer could easily rake up an unanticipated bill etc.
We told you folks about a uTorrent client for Windows Phone 7 a while back, it was not sure if it will ever be allowed. Now that question is out of the way coz the the app is available in the WP7 Marketplace !!! So what will the app allow you to do ? No it does not allow you to download torrent on your WP7 device.. but seriously how may of you would seriously want that ? Torrent Remote is a Windows Phone 7 application that allows you to remotely connect to a utorrent client running on your PC. With Torrent Remote you can start, stop, pause, change settings, and add new torrents.
codeJoker is new Windows Phone 7 development studio closer to home. We have seen a few Aussie WP7 devs over time and these guys are the new kids on the block and come from Gold Coast in Queensland. And if you were wondering ” Hmmm I wonder if this will be allowed in to the WP7 marketplace ? ” the answer is YES. It looks like the developers have got the green light from Brandon Watson. ( at least that’s what they have mentioned on their blog ).
It sounds like a great idea and I am sure there are many out there like me who would love to get this on their WP7 device. Using our username and password we can quickly login to the client and then manage the torrents running on the PC. You can delete, resume , pause the torrents and also add new one on the move. The devs have uploaded a video that shows the Torrent Remote app in action. If you don’t like the green UI there is an option to change the theme to something more like the metro style. If there is enough interest they might even add a toast notification when a torrent is finished ( which will require you to run a a back-end client on your PC ) .. sounds like a nice idea to us.
