According to WMPowerUser.com Microsoft’s My Phone service is now in open beta. My Phone performs a daily backup of your phone’s address book, SMS messages, appointments, tasks, photos, videos, music and even documents with up to 200MB of content. The content can later be accessed online or be used to restore your data if you lost or hard reset your phone. Its expected to be pre installed in Windows Mobile 7 , when its released.

Virtual Mobile is an online service from Sprite Mobile , a leading Windows Mobile developer. If you have tried Dashwire or Microsoft MyPhone, its a similar app. Virtual Mobile is a free app in its beta stage. It should work on all WM5, WM6/6.1 phones.

With Virtual Mobile you can automatically back up the following data:

  • Contacts
  • SMS
  • Photos
  • Calendar
  • Call History

It also provides some remote security features like

  • Remotely lock the device from your PC.
  • Remotely wipe the data from the device.

You also can interact with you device from your PC, so no need to use the stylus to type in your text. You can get more info about the application from the developers site.

When you use Gmail as your primary mail and use use Google calendar to organize events on a daily basis, there was no easy to to sync that info to your windows mobile device. But all that is about to change “big G” is one step closer to world domination by offering Google Sync for free on all major mobile platform and surprisingly enough Windows Mobile gets some love too. NOTE : If you have an Exchange Sync with your Windows Mobile device, doing this might override that.
Make sure that you have backed up any Contacts and Calendars from your phone to your computer before proceeding.
