It seems that after NoDo some devices ( mostly HTC it would appear ) has seen a drop in colors and images looks weird coz of this 16 bit colour banding. It would appear that this is in-fact by design on Windows Phone 7. According to a Aled T. a Forum Moderator on the Microsoft Support forum via WMPU
….
When HTC launched the HD7 and Trophy they upgraded the color depth to 32 bit, which was outside of Microsoft’s design requirements of 16bit. Microsoft implemented the design standards to help ensure the best possible and consistent experience for all customers on all Windows Phones. To continue to deliver a stable and consistent customer experience, HTC returned the devices to the 16 bit design requirements as part of the March (7.0.7390) update. The color palette change should not make a noticeable change to most customers experience on their Windows Phone 7. Microsoft’s goal is to ensure that the device is performing as optimally as possible – and as always their engineering teams continue to investigate the opportunities for future improvements…..

Now many of us have been using Windows Phone 7 as your OS of choice for a month or two and I am sure there have been a few things about the OS / hardware that gets under your skin every time it happens. Today we will look at some of the ones that annoy me the most. We would also love to hear what are your top things that you hope to see fixed in a future WP7 update. Some of these might not be bugs but just little things that I think should be fixed in future versions.
- When I have the profile volume set to vibrate , the games still play with sound, It might not be a bug per say but its annoying, when I have the profile set to vibrate I don’t want volume from anything other than alarms.
- At times WP7 Marketplace gives an Error code when trying to install apps for no apparent reason and most of the time a reboot will fix it.
- No way to edit the content of an e-mail when forwarding it.
- There is no seek controls in the Zune player
- Embedded Youtube video does not work on Webpages ( see here for a temporary fix )
- Maybe its just me but I keep pressing the search button by accident, it used to a lot more frequent on the Mozart, having switched to the Omnia I don’t do it that frequently these days.
arturobandini from xda-developers have compiled an impressive list of all the little bugs and design inconsistencies, if you have any to add to the list feel free to shoot him a PM on xda-developers. This is a new OS fro Microsoft so that are are bound to be some minor issues and over all I think WP7 is a great OS and hope to see some of these issues fix in the update that is going to come out soon.

Checkout Our SponsorsAccording to WMExperts here is the official statement from a Microsoft spokesperson in regards to the SMS 2016 Bug in WM :
“Microsoft is aware of reports that phone messages received after 1/1/2010 may be dated 2016. These reports have not yet resulted in widespread customer inquiries; however, we are working closely with our manufacturing and mobile operator partners to investigate the cause and correct the issue as appropriate.”
Here is a NEW Quick Fix for the issue by AuriGroup.com
It looks like the bug is not limited to just WindowsMobile. There are news about ATM card Service being affected by this bug in Australia. Read about the Eftpos glitch in Australia
Why is this happening ? There are many theories floating around. I came across a theory which pointed out that all this started on 01/01/2010 >> 010110 >> which is Binary for 16 ( Hex ). Personally I blame all this on Skynet.
What is your theory ? Share it with us via the comments

The guys from WMExperts have noticed a nasty little date dug with WM devices. Text messages come dated six years from now ( 2016 ). This is what they have uncovered
- Messages received after 1/1/2010 may be dated as 2016
- Effects WM6.1, WM6.5 and even non-Windows Mobile phones
- It is ROM independent, meaning switching won’t help
- Some carriers seem to be experiencing this bug, but T-Mobile seems fine
Download this .cab and give a thanks to Ziggy471 & Scientific for working on this issue!
