Video comparing the start up boot times of two of HTC’s massive devices, the Titan and the Thunderbolt. While the Thunderbolt runs Android and came out January this year, the Titan is a new player in the game running Windows Phone 7. The phones are pretty much alike with the Titan featuring a better CPU. More detailed comparison can be found here. The video is pretty interesting after what you see the Titan does fared to the Thunderbolt.
We did see Windows Phone is way ahead of the competition when it comes to boot speed and now it looks like Windows 8 ( not Windows Phone 8 ) but Windows 8 – the version that goes on Desktops and PCs, is going to beat Windows Phone when it comes to boot speed. From the video posted by Microsoft it looks like Windows 8 can boot up in under 10 seconds ( around 8 seconds if you were counting ), that is fast. It’s a welcome feature as I am sure no one like to wait around to see the device boot and with the lines dividing PC and Phone getting thinner its good to see some great feature coming to the PC.

We have a video which shows the boot up time for iPhone 4 , Nexus One ( Android ) , HD2 ( Windows Mobile ) and LG Panther ( WP7 ). Keep in mind that the WP7 software is a developers build and not the final product. Windows Phone 7 starts up in almost half the time of all of the other smartphone operating systems. We are not sure if there are 3rd part apps on the other platform which might impact the boot up time but under 30 sec is quite nice especially when compared to the sluggish Windows Mobile startup time.
BootPackage, created by wajk, replaces your startup screen with a Windows 7 boot screen. It even has sound to imitate booting. This package is only for WVGA and HTC devices. There is a beta for non-HTC phones too, but there could be bugs ( and its currently not working , but you can grab it from the developers site, if you want to play around with it )
Changelog:
1.2
- added sound
1.1
- added builtin StartupAnimation enabler (REG)
- changed Energy logo
- optimized graphic
- retimed frames
