Weather Widgets for Androkkid

Weather Widgets for Androkkid

Ajige has created a thread for custom widgets for Androkkid. Androkkid is the popular user interface that acts like Android and Sense UI. The interface itself comes with a few widgets, so users have taken on the role of creating custom user widgets. So far they’ve created a couple weather, battery, Bluetooth and task widgets.

Ballmer confirms WM7 in 2010 and ridicules Android

Ballmer

Ballmer

In a recent question-and-answer session at the company’s Public Sector CIO Summit in Redmond. Chris Kemp, the CIO at NASA’s Ames Research Center, credited Microsoft for its work on security and raised this issue

“With platforms like the Google phone and iPhone coming out, it’s really tough to continue to stand behind Windows Mobile when our employees are bringing these consumer devices into our environments. And in your presentation you put Windows Mobile right in the center there, but it was a phone that doesn’t work in America and an operating system that you haven’t released. I’m wondering what your commitment is to continuing to get newer versions of the operating system in our hands so that we don’t have to fight this battle on the ground.”

Here’s what Ballmer said in response.

“We have a significant release coming this year. Not the full release we wanted to have this year but we have a significant release coming this year with Windows Mobile 6.5. I think that would look a lot like the phone that I showed that was in the slide, but very good catch, very impressed. (Laughter.) He was right on both scores, very good.

“But I think with Windows Mobile 6.5, there will be phones in market this year. We still don’t get some of the things that people want on the highest-end phones. Those will come on Windows Mobile 7 next year. Certainly I’m not, um — there’s opportunities for us to accelerate our execution in this area, and we’ve done a lot of work to really make sure we have a team that’s going to be able to accelerate.

“With that said, we did sell more Windows Mobile devices last year than Apple did iPhones — just an important factoid to have. Blackberry was a little bit ahead, and Google was nowhere to be seen, except in Silicon Valley, I’m sure. But we’ll do our best to help you with that challenge.”

Good ‘ol Ballmer never passes a chance to ridicules the competition. But things are looking good for WM7.

Android G2 – successor to the G1

g2

First look of G2 Android phone, it looks good and sleek. New G2 is supposed to operating on upgraded version Google Android, which looks similar atleast the home screen. The new G2 has 3.2 megapixel camera and do not have Keyboard and is supposed to be available by mid May according to the sources of Gizmodo. Well the G2 will definitely be liked by large audience because of its sleek design.

Its designed by HTC and it definitely looks prettier than the G1. Hopefully wont end up as the vaporware Kogan Agora.

Smartphones head to head !!

Do you want to see a faceoff between the major Mobile operating system and hardware. The Gadget Show from five.tv has done just that. I for one am not convinced with their test method. They had 4 test in total and each test saw one of the device eliminated, so the 1st handset that got eliminated had no chance to prove itself even if it could have won in the later tests. How about graphic performance test instead of how fast you can type an SMS ?

Lets meet the contenders
1) HTC Touch HD – on Windows Mobile 6.1
2) G1 – on Android
3) iPhone 3G – OS X iPhone
4) Blackberry Storm – Blackberry OS

Who do you think should be the winner ?

The app supports multi-language. Spanish and English translations are included. To translate the app to your language just copy the texts.txt file to a file called texts_XXX.txt where XXX is the 3 chars ISO code for your language and then translate the texts included in that file.
