Zensor 2 – an app for automatically rotating your screen using the accelerometer on Windows Mobile

zensor 2

zensor 2

Zensor 2 is an application for automatically rotating your screen using HTC Touch Pro / HTC Touch Diamond’s GSensor. Unlike most other applications, Zensor is written to only detect firm moves, skipping moves done by your mobile moving in your pocket or when walking. In order to change orientation, first make sure you keep your HTC phone in a horizontal position (face up) and firmly move it to either landscape or portrait mode, to force a change. In order to make Zensor learn a new application (and whether to rotate it or not), simply move the device firmly from a face up position to an upside down position.

GravityBalls 0.92 – new accelerometer game

GravityBalls

GravityBalls

GravityBalls is about gravity and balls. With the movement of your hand (left/right tilting) you control the paddle that explodes the balls. Tilting up and down changes the gravitational force applied to the balls. This way you can accelerate them, slow them down or even make them fly to heaven again. This should work on Touch Diamond and Touch Pro, not so sure of Touch HD.

GSen 1.8 – auto screen rotation for Touch Diamond using the accelerometer

GSen

We know the Omnia supports screen rotation using the accelerometer for most applications, now the Touch Diamond gets the same feature thanks to this little freeware from s-k-tools.com. This hack does NOT work with the Touch Pro as the Touch Pro will base most of its screen rotation on the sliding keyboard instead. For the Diamond, you can use the screen rotation feature on most applications, if not all, which is initiated by turning your device and activating the motion sensors.

It even allows to exclude applications (like Opera Mobile which doesn’t need GSEN) or vice versa, to select which applications should be used. In addition it has a nice add-on feature which lets you turn the device in standby mode by turning the device to screen.

GRemote 0.5.2 – use your Pocket PC as a mouse, keyboard, game controller for your PC

GRemote

GRemote

GRemote is software by marbalon from xda-dev which turns your Touch Diamond or Touch Pro into a free-air mouse much like the Logitech MX Air. It uses 2 application a client that runs on your phone and a server which runs on your PC (both Windows and Linux). It includes both right and left click buttons and a scroll wheel, and to prevent accidental movements only transmits movement when you touch the screen.

Now with the lastest update more widgets has been introduced

  • GCenter - place to select controller type
  • GMouse - mouse control like Logitech MX Air (not the same)
  • Touchpad - applet which emulates laptops touchpad with a scroll area (dpad centre is left mouse button, useful for drag&drop)
  • GPad - especially for Media Center (generates arrow keys, Enter, Backspace, Esc, Alt+F4, StartMenu)
  • GMedia - multimedia keys for Windows Media Player (VolUP, VolDown, Play/Pause,Stop,Next, Prior)
  • Keyboard - Now you can use any SIP method including the hardware keyboard in HTC Touch Pro. Extra keys on screen Ctrl, Alt (three state), Esc, Del, Tab
  • GRace - analogue game controller (like Wii Remote) with 2 axis and 12 buttons (7 buttons on screen and 5 hardware buttons)

The new update includes a windows installer which contains all versions (VGA, QVGA, WQVGA, WVGA) and it is installed automatically from PC, autostart option, stat menu group, and some fixes in client app. They have also added functionality for opening ports in Windows Firewall. So if you are using Windows firewall just click the button on the first tab in server application. This function works for Windows XP and Vista but on Vista you have to run GRemote application as administrator.

gMeter 2.10 – measure forward and lateral g forces using windows mobile

gMeter

gMeter is an Pocket PC Freeware that turns the HTC Touch Diamond/Pro or Touch HD into vehicle performance computers, by using the onboard accelerometer in these devices.

gMeter can measure forward and lateral g forces and it can calculate the Horsepower of a vehicle (wheels or engine), using the device’s internal GPS. All the values, including the g-forces (m/s^2), angles, GPS data and calculated horsepower (HP), can be saved to a log file, for furthermore processing. It can also calculate the 0 – 100 Km/h or 0 – 60 miles/h acceleration time. In dragster mode, the application can calculate the time and the horsepower for 0 – 402 meter or 1/4 of mile acceleration. Also, the gMeter can keep the max horsepower and the max values of g-forces and angles. The gMeter can draw the ‘circuit’ according to the longitude and latitude values measured by the internal GPS. gMeter can also create speed and horsepower graphs using the log files.

The device needs to be placed in a vehicle and gMeter needs to be calibrated for position, with the vehicle at rest on a level surface.

Klaxon 2.0.0.29 – Accelerometer and Light Sensor enabled Alarm

Klaxon

Klaxon

Klaxon is an alarm clock, with added specific functionality. It supports multiple alarms with snoozing. What makes this application special though is the ability to interact with the application, through motion or light. The user has the options to shake the phone, flip it over or turn it towards light; Klaxon has integrated feature for customization of interactivity. Users are able to associate commands (snooze, turn off) to gestures while the device feeds back by default after successful command (vibrate once for Snooze mode, vibrate twice if alarm is turned off). It supports Omnia and The HTC devices.

Example: Wake up alarm at 6:00 AM > Flip over to snooze 10 minutes > Snooze alarm at 6:10 AM > Shake to turn alarm off!

SensorLock 0.4 – lock your windows mobile with the accelerometer

SensorLock is a program designed for the HTC Touch Diamond (and will probably work on the HTC Touch Pro too). SensorLock allows you to lock the device’s screen and buttons, thereby preventing random button and screen presses while the device is in your pocket.

Locking and unlocking is simply done by rotating the device around its longest axis (clockwise for locking and counter-clockwise for unlocking) and can be done in any program (Media Player, TomTom etc) without disrupting normal device operation.
