Microsoft have started to get ( Nokia devices ) into South Africa, I came across a photo advertising the Samsung Omnia 7 @ R1699 (approx $200 / £170) which to a South African equals about a week wage. (Thanks for the info JNunn47)
The average wage in South Africa is about R1500 per week, I think without network subsidies, contracts and special offers Microsoft have set the bar a little too high, South Africa is a market that will take some getting back from Android.
UPDATE :Saijo George
Some of our readers pointed out that S.A did have Windows Phone available for purchase, the title has been fixed to indicate that the new devices being refered to are the nokia devices, which is new to the market.

When I was at the Jo’Berg airport last year (May 2011) I went to a phone shop and saw this phone advertised/displayed, so they’ve been around for a while it seems…
weird an ad for a device that has only 10 left in stock ?
Windows Phones have been available in SA for more than a year. This picture was taken from an article written on WP Central about SA get the Lumia range.
ps Some of us do earn more than that in a week.

Blackberry has the biggest and growing market share is SA due to BBM and “free” internet.
