Samsung confirms video call support for WindowsPhone 7.

Over at WMPowerUser, they have provided us all with a shot of a device’s Bluetooth SIG entry which tells us quite a bit about the Samsung Cetus, a WindowsPhone 7 device, including some of its features!

  • 4 inch WVGA AMOLED screen
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • VGA front facing camera for video calling
  • SMS threaded view

Along with all the regular bells & whistles we can expect from a WP7 device.

Now, Microsoft do not state in the requirements that you need a video call camera, but its nice to know it can be supported. Admittedly, we don’t know if the camera support is something Samsung has added or if WP7 has support for secondary cameras built in, but I think it would have been stupid to leave something like that out.

Either way, we can still expect to see video calling on some devices & the appropriate supporting software to go with it.

Another interesting thing I saw is the line saying “instat messaing” which I presume to mean “instant messaging.” What with the new Live Essentials Beta appearing recently (Live Messenger, Live Email, Photo Gallery, etc) I was wondering how long it would be till a WP7 variety of Microsoft’s IM client would appear.

This proves this WP7 device will feature an instant messenger, be it a mobile version of Live Messenger or a Samsung variety IM, but Im still excited to see how it is implemented.

No Super AMOLED?, No way. Where is the love for WP7, Samsung? 5MP camera?. Even the Taylor, the demo WP7 demo phone has an 8MP camera.

If this phone doesn’t come with a Super AMOLED screen , then I’m definitely getting the Dell lightning or an HTC phone for sure.

5 MP camera is good enough…If you know how to use a camera and take advantage of the settings then you should take good pictures.
