Today the world is learning about the legitamcy of the rumored device, Nokia 719. Bluetooth.org has listed the long rumored Nokia 719 as passing it’s Blutooth SIG, thus offering verification to the existance of this new Windows Phone device! While few specifications are known about the Nokia 719, the listing offers some idea as what to expect. It does not offer any timeframes as when to expect the Nokia 719′s arrival to the market, but with the 2012 MWC just 6 days away perhaps we will see an unveiling there. Read the Nokia 719 listing past the break…

Here is what Bluetooth has to say about the Nokia 719:

So as you can see, the Nokia 719 bares a striking descriptive similarity to the Nokia Lumia 710. In addition to the same 700′s series listing, its 3.7” Clear Black Display to its 5 MP auto-focus camera with HD video recording and all the standard Windows Phone features in between lead one to a few ideas.

Trophy

Trophy

First possibility, this could be the CDMA version of the Lumia 710. As you may or may not know, CDMA development has been slow to gain traction with the Windows Phone. In the US there are several mobile carriers that use CDMA networks. The most notable is the true largest carrier in the US, Verizon Wireless, who still only sells one WP device, the 1st generation HTC Trophy.

LTE

LTE

The second idea also revolves somewhat around Verizon WirelssVW made it clear to Microsoft, they had no interest in WP’s until LTE enabled devices were in existance. So with that said, there is a chance that this is the upgrade that device will recieve. As I stated in a previous article, the Windows Phone marketshare in the US in very low. In order for WP to gain any sort of marketshare in the US, having VW’s support is not even a question. With over 108 million customers, Microsoft can ill afford to overlook VW’s importance in this market. I sure hope this is the case for the Nokia 719, as there has been a mass calling for VW to carry WP devices by its customers. There was even a ballot started by customers, for customers, to plead with VW to end the public shunning of WP. Maybe it actually worked!

NFC

NFC

The last idea is that the Nokia 719 might be released with NFC development, which was written about in an article here back in December pertaining to WP already coming equipped with the hardware.

Will Coleman, developer evangelist and product manager at Microsoft UK said:

“As far as I’m aware, NFC is supported by [Windows Phone], but needs to be
enabled by the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). So, if any OEM wants to
enable it, that can be done by all means.”

“Think it’s about just about timing, in the not too distant future there are
some exciting things that will be coming through with NFC from
Microsoft.”

I guess we’ll find out more in 6 days! Hurry up February 27th!  I need the MWC to get here, I’m craving some great WP unveilings!
