According to PCAuthority.com.au Dan Neary, Asia Pacific VP and general manager of Skype said there will not a Windows Phone 7 app for Skype.
Neary said the decision not to support the next-generation Windows Mobile 7 smartphones stemmed from a ‘lack of user optimisation and partner support’ via the Microsoft mobile OS. Over the past few months we have see a lot of excitement and developer interest in the new WP7 platform , this is the first major Brand who publicly made a statement to stay away from the platform.

Thats an interesting comment, considering at today’s Skype conference in Sydney, Skype said a client for WP7 is coming but its not on the immediate roadmap.
No, it is not the sole developer who decided to stay away from WM7.
Kinoma and Firefox made the same decision at this stage.
For instance Charles Wiltgen from KINOMA declared: “(WM7 implies that we) rewrite all of your presentation/UI code, and also rewrite all of your other code if it’s not a .NET app.
For performance reasons, Kinoma Play is a native app. Until Microsoft supports native apps in Windows 7, it’s not going to be possible for us to support Windows 7.” (kinoma’s forum)
Im sorry but I gotta agree with Microsoft AND Apple in this case. People, this is a business not a favor. And so they MUST protect their investments. If you let people start developing on NDK there’s no telling the kind of havoc it can cause the end user.
Im sure if Skype themselves don’t put out an app then a 3rd party will create one just as they have for Android.
@GTRoberts : that is interesting ..
@LapinHirsute : Firefox didn’t abandon the project but they are trying MS to open up nativecode for 3rd part devs.. ( at least that si what I thought happened ) … I didnt know about Kinoma Play.. thanks for that info
@Yaniv C : 3rd party apps are more or less certain , especially for something like skype..
