According to Slashgear Qualcomm’s SVP of product management, Luis Pineda, has just revealed that there are at least two more versions of Snapdragon to come in 2010, running at up to 1.5GHz.
1) Qualcomm Snapdragon 8X50A, a 45nm version of the current chip and clocked at 1.3GHz. That will begin sampling to manufacturers later in January 2010, with the first products using expected by the end of the year.
2) dual-core Snapdragon, the 8X72, with twin 1.5GHz Scorpion cores, before 2010 is out. According to them the 8X72 will be suitable for both smartphones and smartbooks and capable of 1080p High Definition.
If the 1GHz on the HD2 could do so much imagin what the twin 1.5 GHz could do.

Oh man, a 1.5 dual core, yummy! :)
with those things you could do just about anything on your smartphone. 1.5 dual core FTW..
Jesus christ, this is gonna more powerful than my actual PC!
Seems like Smartphones are becoming just as powerful as Netbooks, would the next logical step be to try merge them somehow? Screen size can't get much bigger for obvious reasons but the rest is basically the same.
couldn't agree more.. Now I want a WM7 device with Snapdragon 8X72.
:) can you imagine the various physical options available with devices like this?
If they could include some kind of HD video ouput we could have the advantage of a portable device during the day. When we get home from work/school we could plug it into our LCD's and have a fully functional desktop as well – best of both worlds all from a mobile device!
If features like this ( http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2010/01/09/rumor-nu… ) are planned for mobile devices then we will need those dual cores powering the device. I wonder how the battery life is going to be on a dual core device..
Hell yeah :) can't wait, I reckon 2010 is going to be a fantastic year for gadgets :) – thanks for all your hard work on the site – I am really enjoying it
glad you enjoy it… Its always good to hear feedback like that :)
BTW here is something I didnt post to the front page but if you like to watch video by industry expert ( and imagine if that might come to WM7 ) check this video : http://channel9.msdn.com/posts/Glucose/Hanselmi…
