Windows Phone 7 vs Ads

by Saijo George on February 23, 2011

in News

There has been no shortage of ads for Windows Phone 7, not all of them are great but this new ad that showed up is actually quite nice and what is even more it takes a shot at the other smartphones. In this example we see the pocket to picture feature shown off against an imaginary smartphone. But if they choose to run that with a real smartphone ( read iPhone, Android ) that would tun a lot of heads and they will come out with similar ads that attack WP7, now that would be fun to watch.

via WMPU Some of the other WP7 Ads can be seen here.

Vivino

Vivino

Generally, drinking and electronics are not the best of friends but with apps like Cocktail Flow we have seen that that is not the case on Windows Phone 7. Cocktail Flow is great if you love cocktails but what if you are a wine-o ( read Wine Enthusiast ) well thanks to this amazing WP7 app Vivino, you can mix your Windows Phone 7 with your wine sessions :). Vivino can recognize major wine labels using image recognition. Though it does not recognize every brand under the sun, Vivino can recognize 450,000 wines from over 11,000 wineries and all that in the first version of the app, that is impressive. As more users use the app and sends in data about wines that number will keep going up. The ability to like or dislike a wine is another great feature of the app. Check out the press release and video of the app below

WP7 App Description

Never forget another wine! Use the Vivino app to take photos of the wines you drink. Using image recognition technology, the app will try to auto-match the wine with our database of 400.000 wines. Share your experience with friends through social features.

WP7 Review Reader

WP7 Review Reader

Prior to this if any user left a message on the WP7 Marketplace for your App or Game , there was no proper way to get in touch with them. As we all have seen the WP7 Marketplace reviews can be very vague .. it can be something like … ” I would give it 0 star if I could, don’t Download, it did not work ” this does indicate that the user had issues with the app in question and it most likely did not work as expected by the user. But this sort of review is a developers nightmare , he / she has no clue what the issue is and until now had no way of contacting the reviewer to find out why this could have happened and find out a way to fix it via an update. But all that is about to change with Tom Verhoeff’s new update to his WP7 Review Reader web app ( link ). This does not work 100% of the time but is worth a try.
