BUILD: Onto the Developers now...
After all the fanfare surrounding the Windows 8 and Surface launch, Microsoft (rightly) turns its attention to developers.
BUILD is the name of the developer conference starting at Redmond this Tuesday and judging by the response that the development community has shown (event sold out in 1 hour!), looks like quite a few developers are sitting up and taking notice on the newest kid on the block.
Given the current ecosystem, its evident that the strength of an OS only rests with the power of its app market – and this is where we are reportedly seeing a plateau with Windows 8. Its also all the more important for Microsoft to woo those developers since Surface can only install apps through the Windows Store.
This event, along with the Hackathon in November should provide Microsoft with the much required developer boost to push up the visibility of their new offerings. It wouldn’t hurt if the developers each got a Windows Phone and/or a Surface tablet too ;)
Is any one of you going to be there at BUILD or the subsequent Hackathon? We would love to hear from you about it so keep us posted.
