hdblog.it has posted some great screen comparison between the 2 hottest device on the market. The AMOLED Screen Omnia II vs the capacitive screen HTC HD2. From the screenshot above you can make out that the AMOLED Screen on the Samsung Omnia II looks way better than the the HTC HD2.

Omnia II vs HD2

Here is the screenshot of both the devices under the sunlight, both the screen are not that well lit up under the sun but the screen on the Omnia II looks better off than the one on the HD2.

The guys have also taken a few snaps with the camera to compare the camera on the Samsung Omnia II vs HTC HD2.

Update 08/12/09 :
One of our reader Jay, believes that the review posted above does not do justice to the HD2. His theory suggest that for the 1st image in the post, it is possible that the HD2 screen might have automatically dim itself when the photo was taken.

In regards to the photo capture on the HD2 , Jay has sent across a few shots ( which he has captured in early night conditions )

@ Jay : Were these taken through a window ? Seems to have some sort of reflection overlap. Do you have the pink smudge problem with the HD2 camera ?

thanks for the pics :)

These guys are obviously Omnia fan boys as I can assure you the HD2 camera is capable of much higher quality photos at close range. Also, when the 2 handsets are compared next to each other they obviously have the HD2 set to a lower brightness.

IMHO the review is biased.

What r you saing Jay! Amoled screen need less brightness in dark condition! And the view angle is a lot better of any tft screen! This is not omnia fan… The only thing that amoled screen is not the top is that colors are too vivid 4 me.. HD2 camera is really bad, omnia 2 camera is not the best but better..

Don't know if they set the HD2 camera to “Super fine”. But definitelly the “wide screen” option was enabled (they should have disabled it for more fair comparison).
Also HD2 has a different type of focus, you tap on screen wherever you want to focus (I believe Omnia is auto with button).

Both are good cameras, it depends on how you set them up and how fast you “get the trick”.

All I am saying is that the HD2 dims it's screen automatically after a few seconds and that's what it looks like happened here.

The photo also looks terrible: I took this with my HD2 in early night conditions yesterday – as you can see the quality is fairly decent and it's set to normal!

If I compare with Iphone there is no doubt Iphone sofware is more fluent and now able to do what WINMO was doing 7 years ago. Iphone is more reliable after screen tap than any WINMO phone but not flexible, Also if you have used winmo with these kind of screens it will feel going back to 2003 screens if you use Iphone after using a device like Omnia II.

Wait till you see the capacitive AMOLED screen on the HTC Bravo, thats is going to beat all the phones in the market including the iPhone

I would have agreed up until the HD2 was released. I have had a number of iphone friends looking into trading up to the HTC HD2 after seeing mine in action. iPhone is a great little gadget but I don't think anyone can take it seriously!
