myPlayer

myPlayer is a stand-alone, light-weight application that accesses the BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, Hulu, Five On Demand and MSN Video services directly – eliminating the requirement for a (flash-enabled) mobile browser. Works with any QVGA, VGA or WVGA device running Windows Mobile 6.0 or higher.

Features:
> Choose your own media player – define how each stream is played (CorePlayer v1.30 is recommended‡)
> Full iPlayer integration – browse the Mobile content as you would from any other supported device (including the search feature)
> Download high quality BBC iPlayer episodes directly to your device for offline viewing
> ITV Player compatibility – catch up with the latest online ITV content
> Hulu support (beta) – watch a selection of your favourite cartoons
> Watch all the latest football highlights from the Barclays Premier League
> Five On Demand – catch up with the latest content from Channel Five
> MSN Video – a further selection of streaming content to watch
> Live TV channels – watch the popular terrestrial channels live (BBC1, ITV, Sky News, etc.)
> Extensive TV feed index – thousands of live TV feeds from around the globe
> Live Radio stations – a selection of BBC broadcasts
> Custom TV / Radio stations – add your favourites
> Search History – tracks the most recent searches for easy access
> Keyboard navigation – touch screen is NOT a requirement (although can still be used if preferred)
> VLC server hook – option to stream via a media server running VLC* to overcome connectivity issues (eg. blocked ports, non-UK region, etc.)
> myPlayer streaming service – preconfigured VLC connectivity

‡ HTC’s bundled StreamingPlayer should also work for the BBC iPlayer content on faster devices (for example the HTC Touch HD)

Requirements:
> The .NET 2.0 Compact Framework (which should come with Windows Mobile 6.0 and above as standard)
> An internet connection that is UK based (or media server running VLC* that resolves a UK address – a preconfigured service is now available)

* Please install VLC version 1.0.1 to use this feature (for full details on the VLC implementation please read this post or watch the video demonstration)

The application has initially be developed and tested on an HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) but it should be compatible with most Windows Mobile 6.0 devices. It has recently been updated to support a wide range of resolutions: VGA, WVGA, etc.

*** Whilst streaming video this application will use a considerable amount of bandwidth – please ensure you use it via an unlimited data policy ***

Changelog for v1.050
> Supports the new BBC iPlayer content structure
> ITV Player is now decoded via the myPlayer server (full episodes!)
> Added MSN Video content (from the UK site)
> Various other minor iPlayer fixes
