More positive Windows Phone sales news
The guys at WMPU now have covered more interesting news. MTS, Russia´s biggest carrier recently released their sales report for the first quarter of 2012.
And the numbers are really nice to read: Windows Phone devices outsold the iPhone in Russia with 8.2 % (iPhone has only 7.3 %). In the top 5 selling smartphones list there are three Windows Phones, namely the Lumia 800, Lumia 710 and the HTC Mozart.
You can download the full report here.
The other good news is that the Lumia 900 is outselling the HTC One X, which is said to be the best Android device at the moment. As we reported earlier, Nokia´s Lumia 900 is the second best selling smartphone after the iPhone at AT&T.
Also analyst Tavis McCourt is now confirming that the Lumia 900 sales are continuing “reasonably well”. He writes after his 15 AT&T store checking:
Our conversations with store reps indicated no signs of Lumia demand “falling off a cliff” following the reasonably strong launch week. Clearly, at $99 and with very noticeable retail store support from AT&T reps, the Lumia launch in the US was built for volume. We are still skeptical that demand can remain strong as the HTC One X ramp continues, the Galaxy S III launch occurs, and the iPhone 5 hits later this year, but we continue to be we continue to be impressed with sell through trends in the meantime. Notably the hold music for all AT&T stores across the country invites listeners to behold the “beautifully different” Nokia Lumia 900, and store reps are clearly pushing the product heavily.
Hopefully this good news is continuing also after the launch of the Galaxy S III, which will be another hard competition for Windows Phone and the Lumia 900.
