i would say that “android” icon is more of htc sense than anything. also kind of weird that the windows phone hardware keys make it into the icon and not on the android.

The WP icon should absolutely be marketed! Hats, shits, sweaters, the whole SWAG series of WP icon. Give something for people to relate with, a picture, a name. That is the idea behind being a WinPhan7! People can say oh I’m one as well! Wouldn’t it be great to be walking around a see people with WP SWAG? Easy small talk and conversation starter in addition to the pride of sporting some fresh WP gear!

I aggree, Id love some WP related stuff to wear/show off.
That WindowsPhone icon does look pretty nice, but in my mind its an iPhone icon for WindowsPhone, almost like a WP7 app for an iPhone. Regardless of that, it does look awesome.

Microsoft’s site has some gear, but it’s droll at best. That’s what we need, not another app dev, but a WP promotional products dev! This is a roll call for WP promotional product developers, any takers? :)

A WP7 Icon is not rounded and its not glowing for sure! Sorry, but I don’t like it:-(

Saijo, what about a ‘cafepress.com’ shop where users can buy the t-shirts from multiple designs, like the icon, or some of the phrases, wallpapers, site name,

you would get royalties and they do most of the work…

I’d buy a 1800pocketpc.com hoodie with a cool icon on the back ;-)

In fact I still have a supplier for branded stuff, cups/mouse mats/pens/t-shirts/hoodies/etc etc etc…

cottagepromotions.co.uk

a 5 min walk from my house.

they do embroidered logos or silk screened stuff, blah blah…

it could be worth seeing what interest isd in setting up a product line, it costs £40 for a silk screen for multiple use, or £2 per item using a reusable one.

competive rates too, only £14 for my white hoodie and £8 for a shirt with embroidered pocket logo

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! I would buy a hoodie for sure! I would love to wear a hoodie with WinPhan7! on it accompanied by a pic of a WP, or some variation of that. I’d buy and wear just about any old silly WP promo item! I’m a WinPhan7!, what can I say. ;)

Gary and Saijo, another aspect to consider with promo products is the idea of running contests and giveaways. It’s an easy way to increase online traffic. The previous site I wrote for did giveaways from time to time. When they did, site traffic usually tripled within that period with people trying to qualify. It in turn increased reply rates to posts and forum activity. Just a thought.
