At the moment HTC HD2 is the best Windows Mobile device and HTC made Google Nexus One is the best Android Device. ( wonder what would have happened if HTC made an iPhone ). We put these 2 devices on a head to head battle with their specs. ( via WMPowerUser )

With a larger screen and Multi touch Hd2 looks like a winner but there are rumors that Nexus One will get multitouch support soon plus with more RAM under the hood the Nexus One does look quite desirable. What do you guys think ?

Why don't they set up multitouch to the Nexus?! If there was a moulti-touch, nexus would be much better. Even though the hd2's screen is bigger. IMHO

Too bad HTC still don't put the proper driver with the HD2…happily there's XDA & others site to help users !!!!
Maybe we could make an HTC-Thon to help HTC buy a licence (if this is the problem) :-)

I have the G1 and frankly I'm already bored of android. The nexus looks ok but I know
its gonna be just like the G1 but faster and of course a bigger screen. I really like the
HTC HD2 cause its different in every way and its the kind of phone I've been waiting for and finally a phone that has nothing to envy the Iphone. HTC rocks……

Are there many applications for Android yet? I have no doubt the nexus is a wonderful device, but what is a device without apps?

iPhone users have a great appstore but outdated phones, WM users have great phones but outdated software.

Video is 800×480 on the HD2, not 640×480, and unless you need 720p video playback (which doesn't work in WinMo), I'd personally go with the HD2.

I sold my HTC HD2 today so I can buy myself an Android Phone.

Nexus One or a little patience ?

This is a better phone than the 3GS hands down, it simply lets you do what you want–quickly, without hassle, and without compromise.
Google + HTC + T-Mobile = Unprecedented user experience.

Yes, there's a whole lot of apps for Android and they don't stop coming. My only problem and I dont know if its just the G1 but I usually have problems with them. They slow the phone down alot and I often get foreclosures. But like I said that could just be the G1 I know these newer phones have more memory and are more responsive. And yes its true about the WM not having much apps. but I think they have some decent ones. I believe they will step up there game considering W7 is on the way & with the HD2 in their lineup they have to step it up! : )

@Guido: Wow thats a little impulsive don't you think? :) I would love to hear your views and thoughts moving from HD2 to Nexus if you can spare the time though?

Thanks.

Ofcourse !

- Contract up for renewel
- 1 year contract 240/480 min/text – 90 euro's for the HD2
- Selling the WM phone to get money to buy a simlock free android.

Why I chose this model ? Because it would get me the most money on ebay for example.
Why did I sell it ? Because I had the HTC HD, feb 2009, and I didn't like it AT ALL – WM that is.
why did I sell it ? See above list – needed the money.
Did I try the phone? No – I left it sealed for the purchaser.
Did I see the phone when the purchaser tested it – Yes, god damn what an amazing piece of hardware – With the wrong OS !!

If you want more info just let me know. ! =P

Fair enough :), personally I haven't seen any phones yet which would make me part with my HTC HD2. From what I have read online the HD2 will also be the first phone capable of running WM7. I am definately looking forward to that :)

This year should be an interesting one for gadgets, lets see what pops onto the market.

My contract will be up for renewel end of this year and I think I'll wait to see if any of those new dual core phones have been released yet.

Got my WM + HTC HD2 + T-Mobile and am currently very happy :) so much better than my previous WM + Toshiba TG01 + Orange – got twice the package and twice the phone with T-Mobile :)

Toshiba TG01 was supposed to be a powerhouse of a device but it never really took off. What issues did u face with the device ?

I think the UI was not that great but that alone would not have caused its downfall.

Duel Core not likely but the 1.3GHz Snapdaraagon devices should be out in q4 2010

Oh man where to start :( I rushed out and got mine close to the release date with WM6.1. I had many issues, sound volume was very low both with multimedia and in call, phone would restart for no reason (especially during media playback), no accelerometer support with ANY application I tried, the list goes on ,,,

The graphical interface was absolutely shocking, I booted the Orange UI and loaded up SPB Mobile shell which ran beautifully. Then the 6.5 upgrade came out many months later which resolved the rebooting and the sound problems.

The screen scratched so easily as well. At the end I had it working as best as I could, it was a lot better with the patches / upgrades I added. Unfortunately it cost me more than the iPhone but it didn't compare.

It was a beautiful device don't get me wrong. Light, slim, very powerful and a beautiful screen but damn, Toshiba lack of drivers let it down badly. I purchased the HD2 (which is a similar spec) and everything just works so much better, and I am now happy :)

One thing I must add though is that the TG01 seemed to hold its value well though, I sold it 6 months later for £20 less than I paid for it :)

its great you got to sell it close to the purchase price.. thanks for the info..

Nexus One – More ram
HTC HD 2 – Bigger screen

2 small differences, then it came down to the OS – easy pick for me !

After having got the HD I won't be buying a WM phone any time soon again, something would have to really surprise me. Besides that, I like the fact that I can put stuff on my screen to my liking, and not having preset tabs like the weather tab and message tab.

Guido, are you now talking about the htc hd or the HD2? Reason I ask is because the HD2 is fully customisable.

Infact the one major advantage i enjoy with WM is that its usually fully customisable. There will always be an app or a reg edit somewhere to change most features.

Reply

Guido January 9, 2010 at 9:27 pm

Are the tabs also customizable? – which is what I'm looking for =)

Its true, WM is tweakable to the bone, but there was always something that didnt work or went wrong with the HD1 it started to annoy me and made me decide not to take a WM phone again any time soon. =)

I'm from Sweden and I've had my HTC HD2 for more than one month now.
Do you know there was a special forum dedicated for our beloved phones, yes, it's http://www.HTCHD2Forum.com.
The HTC Hd2 is my third HTC device and man it's great! I knew it had twice the clock speed compared to my Diamond but could never imagine the difference to be that huge.

Anyway, I know a little bit about WM and can hopfully help people.

Will the HD2 allow for over the air google update of contact, calendar and email as on an android phone?
