[ HACK ] Registry Tweak to Free Up Memory while closing Opera Mobile

Opera Mobile

Opera Mobile

After using Opera Mobile and exiting the application, you might notice in your Task Manager (other than HTC Task Manager) that its process is still running in the background until you kill it ( I think its mostly when the device is running TouchFlo 3D ).

Anton D. Nagy from pocketnow.com receltly posted a hack from xda-developers to fix this issue. You need to edit your registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Preload and change the value of “RealExit” from “0” to “1”. This would prevent Opera Mobile’s process from staying memory resident after exiting the application and forcing it to really exit, thus clearing up some memory space. In case you don’t have this registry hierarchy, create it. RealExit should be DWord.

For those who don’t want to play with the registry just use the cab file and reboot after installing it.

Very insighful post. Additionally, application events (appevents) that are associated with sound are checked for validity with a good registry cleaner.
