in Windows Phone Apps,WP7 App Review

Not a big fan of Bing Maps , Well how about Google Maps on Windows Phone ? now you can thanks to gMaps. Foodspotting lets you discover amazing food near your location. Dark TimeBox a countdown timer with many custom skin option and finally Tasks Arranger a to-do app that offers a nice way to sort to-do’s by priority these are the four apps we will be taking a look at.

Google Maps on Windows Phone : gMaps

FREE : ( Download ) ( Web )
gMaps Pro : ( Download ) ( Web )

Gives you the ability to use Google Maps on Windows Phone , with some cool features like the ability to track your journey, use the compass ( if available ). You can easily show route to the your contacts. According to the description the app now supports latitude background agent which updates your position in real time while application is not running. The app also offers multiple Maps view options like Hybrid, Physical, Street, Satellite and Water Overlay. Other features like searching for a location and calculation various route option between the 2 location based on your preference like ( driving, cycling, walking or public transport ) are also baked in. Do you want to check the weather and traffic option ? that works too. Should you need to take a screenshot of the map that is also possible from within the app. One feature I would like to see is the Street View, that would make this app even better.

Find good food near you : Foodspotting

( FREE ) ( Web )

This is a crowd sourced app , that reviews individual dishes from a cafe / restaurant instead of reviewing the restaurant itself. You can use your Foodspotting account if you have one and participate in the reviewing process or just browse through what others have to say. There are some nice mango features in there which allows you to pin a certain dish or restaurant to your home screen. So if you want to discover some great food from your area , now you know what app to download.

A countdown timer with multiple skins : CountDark TimeBox

( Free ) ( Web )
According to the developer Dark TimeBox helps you to be in control of your timeboxes on meetings and working phases a.k.a you get to put up a countdown timer on your phone. The app comes with some nice skins and you can pre-set various timers , so if you often re-use it the countdown clock is just a click away. You also get to set a reminder which you can set to go off before the countdown ends. One issue I have with the app is that you can only set the time in increments of 5 minutes and there is no seconds options.

A to-Do App for Windows Phone : Tasks Arranger

( $1.99 ) ( Web )
Want a to-do App with an easy way to set priority for the task ? well you might want to look in to Tasks Arranger. With the promise of Gmail and Outlook Sync in future version, Tasks Arranger offers a simple and effective way to set priority for the task , swipe left to decrease it and swipe right to increase it. At the moment the app does not allow you to set a reminder / due date for these tasks , which is a feature I would like to see in possible future version but allows you to set a task with a custom icon.

Dark TimeBox

I made the app explicit without seconds and smaller minute steps. Before I made this app, I tried some other Countdown-Apps and on begin of the meetings, I was always moving around seconds and single minutes.

For the next update, I can consider a Minute-Unlock-Mode.
Thanks for the constructive feedback.
