There have been several countries that have been left behind when it comes to second generation Windows Phones. Canada is now confirmed to get 2nd generation support from Microsoft, by receiving the HTC Radar, Nokia 710 and 800. That left Australia as one of the larger countries still remaining without any 2nd gen. devices. With device marketshare dropping as well as a slip in mobile browser marketshare, Australia will be getting the shot in the arm they so desperately need to positively reflect the currently small and slow international growth trend of WP. Fortunately for WP and Australia, the arrival of the 2nd generation devices has marked an immediate increase in both statistical markers across Europe. With an Australian market hungry to be unpdated to 2nd gen. devices, WP should see an improvement in sales with 2 new models on the way. Read on past the break to find out which models, where, and when…

According Nokia’s Facebook Page , the Lumia 710 will hit Aussie shores in March from Optus, Virgin, as well as retail outlets. The outright price will be $379. The Nokia Lumia 800 will be available in Australia from Optus, Telstra, Vodafone and all major retailers starting in March as well, which will retail unlocked for $699. Optus and Dick Smith are now taking pre-orders for the Lumia 800. Optus comes with an online exclusive offer for a limited time only, ending February 29th.

The Lumia 710 will be available in black and white. Buyers will have the option to choose from black, white, cyan, pink and yellow backplates. Installed with the 7.5 OS, the Lumia 710 comes with a 3.7″ Display, Single Core 1.4 MHz Qualcomm Processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB Storage, and a 5MP camera. This device will no doubt bring joy to its users!

I hope this small dose of devices will boost the Australian marketshare for WP! If any device can do it, the Lumia 800 can. It has picked up sales all throughout Europe and there is anticipation of its arrival in the US via Microsoft Stores. For a small device, it carries a big reputation already! I wonder when the Lumia 900 will reach down under or if the HTC Radar will be the next device? That is how Canada did it, 2 Nokias and 1 HTC. Which device do you prefer, or will you wait to see what the 2012 MWC will offer for the future. I’ll admit, even though I own the 7 Pro and the Titan, that Lumia 900 is so darn enticing and might become part of my arsenal when it lands in the US.

we already have the omnia w here for almost a month now i think (the first 2nd gen phone released here) but i haven’t seen any promotions or ads for it, i was really waiting for the lumia 800 but now have decided to just wait for the 900 just because of the ffc (i use tango a lot lately) and bigger screen

The screen size alone is a big deal. I went from the 3.6″ display of the 7 Pro to the 4.7″ display of the Titan and can’t imagine ever buying a device again under 4″. The Lumia 800 has the 3.7″ display and the Lumia 900 has the 4.3″ display, that is definitely a sizeable difference and does indeed make a difference in user experience. Bigger screen equals easier typing and better viewing. What is amazing is when my 7 Pro and my Titan are side by side. Either the Titan looks MASSIVE or the 7 Pro looks teeny tiny like a toy. The device builds are SO much smaller on ones built under 4″.

Awesome! That’s priced pretty much as expected :) I’ll be advising quite a few people to get the 800. Unfortunately, I have to wait for the 900 to replace my HD7 as I love the 4.3″ screen and can’t go back to a smaller one. [Posted from the 1800PocketPC app]

What bands? Not fair to us non-Aussies that they get the white 800 right out of the gate… :(
